Hi all
Following on from Fiona's message re above.
Did anybody see last Sunday's Times Style magazine about the new Zita West clinic. Her clinic is about helping IVF patients who would like a more holistic approach to IVF.

She helps prepare you body for the shock of the drugs used in IVF.
At £140 for a consultation and £90 thereafter its not cheap but some of the things she said in the article made sense, here's some of them:

Studies in China show that weekly acupuncture treatment can help to boost the growing follicles from which the mature eggs are released.

That even at the age of 25 having sex five times a night during your most fertile period there is only a 25% chance of getting pregnant!

Over the counter painkillers can adversely affect ovulation and that lubricant jellies kill 70% of sperm.

Decongestants can significantly affect the body's seretions!

Losing weight can improve chances of sucess and that detoxifying the liver before a cycle can make the fertility drugs more effective.

Men should take folic acid as well as women before conception which improves the quality of his sperm.

You should refrain from using tampons which can alter the mucus in the vaginal tract.

Keep out of the swimming pool and gym while you are on your period when according to Chinese medicine the body should rest.

Don't know if any of this will help but you might want to give it a try. I let you know how I get on.

Off to hospital tomorrow for another FET
Have a good weekend
lol
Lissa
xxx
Good luck for tomorrow Lissa!!!!!!! Let us know how you get on. Are you off work for a bit?

That stuff you found is really interesting and like you say, makes perfect sense. I bet it's well worth the money (if you have it).

Love Sarah x
Dear All

Just adding my bit.

I have 5 failed attempts at IVF with ICSI and am now having Acupuncture as well as Chinese herbs at the Zhai Clinic in Harley Street.
Dr Zhai has a excellent record of treating infertility and has been written about in Issue & Pathways to Pregnancy the infertility magazines.
She is a lovely person and if you are interested in this sort of treatment it's worth giving her a call to see if she can help you.

I wish that I had found out about the Zhai Clinic along time before I had so many IVF treatments.

The treatment so far has given me alot more energy and I seem better able to cope with the fact that I have 5 negative treatments. I am due to start down reg for my 6th attempt in January - fingers crossed!

The Zhai Clinic
112 Harley Street
London
Tel 020 7908 3866 / 020 7908 3860

Loads of luck to all
Lucy
Thanks for your responses.
Yes at work today but back in the saddle at lunchtime!
Have looked into acupuncture at my doctors they charge about £40 per session is this about the going rate?

Sorry to hear you have had so many negatives - here's hoping for 2003!!

Sarah thanks again will let you know on Monday how it went. Spending all weekend upside down!
lol
Lissa
xxx
Hi Lissa and Lucy,

Being in the North, acupuncture here is much cheaper (plus I doubt anyone else is as experienced as Dr Zhai) and the acupuncture sessions themselves are £25 each. The tablets I'm on at the moment are £12 for a fortnight and the initial consultation was free. They reckon for me a minimum of 5-6 weekly sessions. So not breaking the bank.

Have taken a copy if Lissa's list - there are some very interesting points on there.

I'm putting my faith in the acupuncture getting me back to my livewire self shortly and your comments Lucy have inspired me yet again - thanks. And glad to see you're still around.

Good luck to Lissa for the next fortnight, and Lucy, I know its difficult, but keep us informed on how your cycle goes and I'll be thinking of you and praying for your success.

Lots of Love

Fiona xxx
