my dh due to mumps has no sperm in regular tests.
also had vareoceal (sp?!) which was removed in summer - has anyone seen counts improve after removal??

Has anyones Dh noticed improvemnt in sperm counts by doing anything clever? as always Advice really appreciated

Thanks!
Hey Caz
My dh had a varicole op summer 01 and it improved his count by 100's of percentage points which we were delighted about. He hadn't had mumps I think was just unlucky - anyway we are told that he now has super swimmers, with great motility and has a normal count.
Before and after the op I gave him vitamins and minerals - most importantly Zinc, Folic Acid and L'Argine. Also he has Marmite and Vegemite which are apparently good. The other thing is that he has got rather fit which I think helps (plus he looks yummy!). Anyway we were lucky as I know this op isn't always a success...how did yours turn out?
Hope this helps any other questions please ask away.
Love, Michelle x
p.s. He quit smoking and cut down on the alcohol (although I think he often had a sneaky drink!)
Hi Caz
My dh had a varococele removed 1-2 years ago and his count increased from 1 million to 3 million after about a year and from about 10% motility to 30% motility. However, on day of icsi, there were only 500,000 - don't know where the rest went - probably stress kept them away!- Still they only need a few.
Lots of love
Louise XXX
op to remove varicole went fine. but they haven't done another test after - I actually had teh feeling his urologist was writting off our chances a bit. However we are seeing specialist for first time next week and i guess they'll run all the tests agin. So we'll see. SO want to get on with it. Altho as have said am quite pessimistic about our chances - me with PCOS , him with no sperm except a few in a biopsy they did when he had teh varicole removed. Fingers crossed that ICSI might be an option for us.
Thanks Michelle and Lou for your help!
Hi

My dh had an op '94, following the test we weren't even sure we'd be able to do ICSI. It wasn't until 2002 that a significant difference was noted. We're just about to go for egg transfer and we're hoping we can go for IVF rather than ICSI.
