Hi Alison,

On a different thread you mentioned the foresight programme. Here is their web address for you to look at http://www.foresight-preconception.org.uk/. quite involved but a brief outline of what they are about is as follows… the theory is that toxic levels in our & dh bodies could be too high and vitamin levels too low so they recommend a hair sample of both you and dh and they test to see if you are lacking in any particular vitamins and also if you have too much of a particular heavy metal. They then recommend what vitamins and minerals you & dh need to take as well as recommend you eat more healthy and change as much as possible to organic foods. At the end of 4 months you have you hair retested and hopefully have reduced any heavy metals and increased vitamins and they give you the all clear to start trying to get pg.
Disadvantage is that it can get quite expensive with all the vitamins and minerals they suggest you take along with the costs of the hair samples.

I am currently on their programme (haven't had hair retest yet so can't say if it works or not) but if you or anyone wants any more details or would like to chat just let me know.
love Chrissi
Chrissi, thanks so much for taking the trouble to reply. I will certainly have a look at the website. I'm definitely feeling that my body's taken a battering this year (3 IVF cycles plus an op on my tubes) and so want to take a break and get myself in better shape before trying again. But the first part of that recovery will be letting my hair down over Christmas! Do let me know how you get on - when do they retest your hair?

Alison
Dear Chrissi,

I have been thinking about the programme as well. My mum sent me an article about it a few weeks ago. I guess it may help - it certainly couldn't harm (except maybe for the costs involved).

I too have just had my 3rd IVF failure, so am willing to try anything (except for give up alcohol totally - it's the only thing that keeps me sane at the moment).

Let me know how you get on,

Alison P
