We are just about to start down regging (3rd July) for 5th cycle. We have never had any embryos to freeze so have to have fresh transfer every time. The embryos are fragmented but not sure if that a sign that if they not suitable to freeze that the ones they transfer will be good enough - even though embryologist said that they beter off in uterus.
This cycle the consultant has agreed to use extra drugs as below:-
Have any of you ladies had these and if so what exactly are they for and have any of you had positive outcomes.
I know i am looking for a needle in a haystack because each and every woman responds differently to drugs but i am looking for some inspiration as each treatment cycle gets more difficult - not quite ready to get off the merry go round yet though - still have alot of fight left in me.
Sorry to drone on but i know with all the experiences you have all been through this is the best place to ask.
Hi Tracey ... Gosh, you've been through it, haven't you ? .. You sound pretty positive, and that helps a lot I'm sure.
Some studies have shown that those who take a low dose of aspirin (or baby aspirin) have a 5% greater chance. It's to do with thinning the blood and blood flow around the uterus.
Many clinics though don't recommend either one way or the other. When I asked mine, they said they believed the tests were inconclusive and it was up to me if I chose to take it.
Sorry - don't know about the other 2 drugs.
Good luck !

You're really a veteran at this aren't you?! I can't offer much help but I do know that dexamethasone is a steriod. My clinic use it from day 1 of stimming - I can't believe I did this, as I'm usually so thorough, but I actually forgot to take it. I thought it was for after ET. I discovered I should have been taking it when I went for my second scan (about day 10). I'm getting mixed messages about what it was for - mainly they seem to think it's to help stop women getting a poor response to stimming. I've had a good response (about 25 follies) so that isn't a problem. I think they might also use it to counteract some kind of auto-immune problem (one nurse hinted at this) but, because I didn't start taking it til day 10, I think maybe they don't want to tell me why else I should have been taking it, in case I worry. I'm due for EC on Tuesday so I can't say what impact it might or might not have had.
Reading back, I don't know if that's any use whatsoever! Good luck with it all anyway

Hi Tracey,
I have also had 5 fresh ivf cycles, all with fragmented embryos and never had any to freeze. We had a positive outcome on our 4th attempt with twins!
I have a high level of NK cells so take loads of meds during my cycle.I have had clexane aspirin and steroids.
For me the aspirin was to thin the blood and increase the supply to the uterus as was the clexane, the dexamethasone is a steriod used to try and reduce the bodies attempts to reject the embryo by reducing the imune response.
I am hoping to start my 6th and final attempt as soon as AF arrives as long as my blood work is ok so maybe we will cycle together!
Thanks so much for your replies - i knew this was the place to find some answers.
I am due to start downregging on 3rd July with EC provisionally booked in for 1st August. As it is the 5th time and they have not given me any tests for immune problems i am sure that this is why they are giving me the extra drugs to try and aid implantation.
As i can see from your replies we have all been through it a good bit and only hope and pray that we all get the outcome we so want and deserve.
Sandra - alot of people take the aspirin and any other drugs they throw at you - i suppose anything is worth a go if it ups our chances - i wish you all the luck in the world with your treatment and hope it works out for you sometime very soon.
Caroline - With everything going on i'm not surprised you forgot something. DOn't worry too much because at least you have taken some. Good luck with your EC and ET and take it easy - will all be worth it to get your BFP. Fingers X'd for you.
Ellie - It is lovely to hear of positive outcomes and i bet those lovely twins of yours keep you busy. So sorry that you have to go through this again but hopefully the next one will be the one for you. Stay positive and relax as much as you can to prepare for your upcoming treatment - Good Luck!!!
I am going to have a read through Zita West book now and get some tips on preparing myself again.
