I started injecting menogon (3 ampoules) on Tues 27th and had my first b/test on Friday am. The levels were low (not sure what), and I have to do 5 ampoules of menogon until my first scan on Monday - then they'll reassess. I guess my ovaries need more stimulation than they originally thought. Has anyone else had this? It makes me worry that I won't get enough follicles developing - what if we have to abandon this attempt...?? Feeling a bit anxious!
love,
Nina
Hi Nina

Dont worry at all about the dose some of us need a little more stimulation. I am 26 and dh 28..but I have a FSH of around 12 which means I would need more powders - I was on 4 powders a day and nothing happened so they changed me from Menagon to Merional and gave me 6 powders a day for the next 6 or so days..I made 7 follies and they got 3 eggs - all 3 fertilised and I had 2 put back..I tested yesterday and unfortuately it had failed..I had a bio chemical pregnancy which means that things had implanted but then stopped growing or had come away from the lining..yesterday I was gutted but todays a new day..

Good luck ..I know how you are feeling as the clinic were going to cancel our cycle..talk to your ovaries ..it worked for me and they started to kick into action.

love becky b
Dear Becky,

Thank you masses for your reply. Think I can feel my ovaries doing something today, but you know what it's like when you examine every single twinge! Will know more after scan tomorrow.

And again wanted to say I'm so sorry for your result. You're doing so well and I know it's so hard. Look after yourself tons!

love,
Nina
Dear Nina,

I don't think that this business is an exact science and the clinics have to play around with the doses. There's a fine line between overstimulating and not responding. On my 1st go I overstimulated and they had to coast me, and we nearly had to cancel the cycle. On my 2nd go they started me on a lower dose and it was okay. I had the same dose on my last attempt and my ovaries hardly responded at all - but we still got 6 eggs. Just trust the clinic - they do hundreds of cycles a year (depends on where you are I suppose).

Hope it all goes well,

Alison P
Thanks for this Alison. Felt realy down this afternoon as had my first scan and had just 3 follicles on one side and 8 on the other , and some of these are still pretty small. This is less than I had for my first attempt, a few months back. I know, you're right, there's no exact science - we need just a few good eggs to give us a chance. I'm going to try to take each day as it comes.

Until soon!
Nina
