Rosacea

Post by NickiMark »

I suffer with rosacea, and these past 2 days it's been really bad. Just wondering if anyone knows if Rosacea flares up when u are pregnant??

I am trying to undersatnd why it's got worst suddenly. I know what triggers it and i know I should n't have it, but's bad right now.

Not sure if anyone can help, not many people have heard of it.... I have spent the last hour searching it on the net cant find anything about rosacea during pregnancy....

Help??

Nicki

I don't know anything about it, but when I was doing some research on the Internet, it did say that skin can be extra sensitive during the First Trimester.

I usually have a clear complexion (except one or two at "that time of the month"), and suddenly my skin has been awful - apparently, according to my book, this is quite common with a lot of pregnant women.

Have you tried doing a Google search for "Rosacea during Pregnancy" to see if anything comes up?

I have indeed searched that and it's all rather vague. saying it's not proven though hormones do change it but sometimes it's worse sometimes its better.

I want facts.

Thanks Lil P x

Nicola ... We had a chat about this a few months ago as my df suffers terribly. He has flushing, sometimes continual redness, terrible eye irriatation (like grit), swollen eyelides, itching, tightness, . on the face, on the scalp, neck ..

I understand the mains recommendations are :
* Drink at least 2 ltrs of water per day (more if you are a larger person)
* Reduce Stress
* Avoid stimulation - anger/embaressment/fright
* Avoid stimulants - tea/coffee/cigaretts/excessive sugar/artificial sweetners
* Avoid/minimise alcohol
* Avoid hot baths
*Look out for food allegies

Nicola - Check out http://www.internationalrosaceafoundati ... tions.php4

I can imagine how distressing it is, eps. when you have a flare up

Thanks everyone. I know Sandra we have touched on this before. I know ur dh suffers.
I avoid booze (not drinking at the moment anyway because of the iui)
I dont eat spicy food, I avoid hot showers/baths with steam. I cover my face in the sun, I cover my face in the wind.
I take time out when I stress and wash my face with cold water.
The doctor has given me cream, which tones it down the only last time it occured really bad, and still avoiding the triggers was after my dad died. It's also bought on my emotional stress. so I wonder if my worring deep down about this iui and getting a bfp.

I feel positive, I feel fine but maybe not underneath?? Maybe also it's hormonal. Thats what I hope it is......

???

thanks for the link sandra. x x

thanks everyone else for your support x x

Nicola - Did you try the Doublebase moisturiser ? It seemed to work for df for a while, then (as with everything else), ceased being effective.

Df got it on prescription, although I think you can just buy it over the counter. It's like a really thick version of e-11 / aqueous cream ... but it does leave your really mositurised. I use it more than him !

Nicola
There's a product by a chap called dr hauschka and he specialises in skin conditions. I buy his stuff cos iIhave bad spots (hormones awry!) and also my skin is sensitive - it works, not ultra cheap but not prohibitively expensive. You can get it on the web.
Also you could try Avene - its hypoallergenic and hospitals use it to help skin when its damaged. You can buy it from boots, not too dear. Thats really good too and i seem to remember there's one for rosacea. I've use it and its good.
Hope this helps

This Rosacea is a skin disorder that causes sunburn like appearance on our face. Rosacea acne may also decrease skin's ability to fight with the bacteria. So, please suggest me any Rosacea product for this skin problem.
