ANYONE ELSE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS

Post by Jeni Babes »

Hi

the background is that I had 2 ectopics ( natural pregnancys) in the last 19 months.both tubes were removed so started IVF July O5. Down reg on triptorelin 4wks inj. 1st scan ok, started high dose of menogon as FSH borderline ...but after 10 days no response. next cycle was to be certrotide cycle in oct/nov but...

Its now 4weeks since I was cancelled and i have had no AF. Contacted the clinic as last week as Headaches returned with mega hot sweats, blood was taken and the result is not promising...FSH- 45, E2-20 which means that i have either not been able to get rid of the drug yet or I am in menapause! The docs are very strongly sure about this as i didn't respond to the menagon.

I am 38 years old and this time last year I was natuarally pregnant! My peroids have been fine the last year I am a regular 28 day girl. So it seems out of the blue to me.

The only peice of hope is that as I havent had AF yet to get an accurate reading, so who can say???...I just have to wait. And get blood tests next week then in 4 weeks.

The headaches are better the past few days but the hot flushes are here to stay unless i take HRT. If i do take it i may have to wait another 8 weeks after taking it for my bodyto regulate and therefore get a correct blood result...so at moment I am taking each day and coping the best I can without the hrt.

anyone else gone through similar?

I keep thinking it isn't over yet...but?

sorry I cant answere your question but I can reasure you that if you are going through an early menopause then you can still have IVF but obviously with donor eggs . I recon that the drugs have affected you , have you had a high fsh before ???

hi traci

I don't know if i had a high fsh before this 1st ivf. they just told me after last cancellation that FSH was borderline @ 17. after reading Zita i see now that that was high ( she says 10 and under) but my clinic will work with 15-17 as borderline.
Wonder why they didn't test me at JUNE AF (@ the 2-5 days) before my 21 day down reg. Instead of JULY AF (day 3 ) when it was 17 and they went ahead with treatment. Guess it's a resource and budget thing.

Ah well, as you said it things don't change i will need to look at donor eggs. The same doc said it would be a long wait as not many donors her in Scotland.

I am trying to keep the Faith and think postively...but now and again am just in tears.

Thanks for posting Traci

Hi Jen

Sorry that you've had such a rough go. I too, am taking my medical care into my own hands, as my clinics do things that seem to miss what I need.

Good luck with being proactive for yourself.

is there a CARE clinic near you ? they seem to be good with donor eggs , another thing you could do is when you do get your af's back o some normality have more than 1 FSH tested get your doc to do 3 months in a row then you will see more of a pattern!
sorry mate for your pain ,
here is a big hug coming {{{{{{{{{{HUG}}}}}}}}}}}

ogr1,
You have had a tough time...going through all that then loosing 3 babies...Big Hug...you know what you need, Good Luck and keep fighting for what you want.

And me ...Am still dealing with the shock of it all. I am a psychotherapist so know about the grief cycle and at moment i am in the denial & anger stage. Loads of questions going through my mind...Yesterday i was reading up on permature menopause and discovered that if you have had fallopian tubes tied or in my case snipped (due to 2 ectopics) THAT can cause shock pre-menopause. It's amazing that this info comes to light now...as a year ago after my last ectopic i could have chosen to go privately instead of waiting 12 months on NHS for IVF!!!!

But, realistically all that I am thinking doesn't really help... cause it doesn't take away that I may be menopausal at age 38! It's just my brain trying to accept it all. Day at a time girls day, at a time, with loads of PMA.
