Anyone experience biochemical pregnancy loss (<week 6 or

Post by Fellena »

I had the 1st blood test +ve, only to find a week later the result became -ve. I lost the baby at week 5. Doctor said I had a biochemical pregnancy.

Anyone had a similar experience? Why I became "pregnant" and lost it so fast? it's really like a roller-coasting.....

Thanks

Fellena,
Sorry to hear abt your chemical pregnancy..
I don't know why it happens, but there was a thread abt chemical pregnancies which may help..it shd be further down this list..
Hope you feel better soon and are ready to go again.. if its any consolation,I think it proves that everything is working well and you can get pregnant..

Hi, Smita, thank you so much. I did find some really good threads on chemical pregnancy and immune testing. Really helpful. Never heard this from my doc before.

Higher NK cells level might be the culprit since I did feel the pain in both sides of ovaries during 2ww. the pain vanished only after the blood result went to -ve.

I wish I would have found this forum earlier so I could have been more informative in my first try.

Big thanks once more!

My first pregnancy was a chemical pregnancy. I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks. It was heartbreaking. I'm glad that I found out that it was coming though. I new within 72 hours because of the HcG tests that they did. I didn't really have a chance to experience the real joy of being pregnant because it was over as soon as it began. :(

The miscarriage itself wasn't fun though. When they say "a little mild cramping" they are WRONG. That was worse than anything for me. It didn't feel like a chemical pregnancy at that point. I lost a baby :(

My thoughts are with you.

Like KC, I suffered what technically would be called a biochem, though my consultant called it a miscarriage. Also like KC, the pain was very severe and I actually knew I was miscarrying. I’d started spotting before the +ve HPT, so had presumed it would be a –ve, so was very surprised on test day to have a +ve. An HCG test at the hospital confirmed the +ve and the number was OK. However, on returning home I suffered huge pains and passed more than just blood, so I knew it was all over. I did another HPT a few days later and it was a –ve, followed by a final HCG test just to confirm.

I was subsequently diagnosed with higher levels of killer cells, but sadly even taking steroids for my 3rd attempt didn’t solve the problem. I always bleed on day 12 and the clinic now think I have a progesterone problem where the lining breaks down early. Planning a natural FET in Nov/December with hopefully extra progesterone.
