India?

Post by JitterBugz »

Is anyone from India or having (or already has had) IVF done in India? I was wondering what the cost of IVF was/is?

I contacted one clinic and the cost was $40,000 - $55,000 in Indian currancy does this sound right to you? Any help would be great!

No Heather that doesn't sound right. I saw 60 Minutes recently on the amazing rise of Indian healthcare for foreigners and the cost of a hip replacement was about 5000 US and heart surgery c. 8000 US. This included the stay in hospital, meds etc. Flights were extra.

There are 2 people on here from India, why not PM Smita and ask her if she'd mind giving you some info?

Hi Heather,
Have had ivf here in India and am currently in my 5th month..
the cost you've gotten is right, but in Indian currency- that would be 40,000-55000 indian rupees, not USD. $1 is approx Rupees50
Roughly translated into dollars, that'd be anywhere between $800 to
$1200 USD depending on the drugs your body needs and the hospital you'd get tmt at..
I'm in Bangalore(towards the south of India)and so far this tmt with all my drugs(am on heparin daily)has cost abt 1500 USD.. may increase - the cost of just the ivf was 1200.. so..
You'd have to factor in staying costs additionally- unless the clinic you contacted helps with that as well- though not likely..
I cant complain abt the quality of tmt at all. At par with US/UK if not better..Of course it has its own downsides as well..so..
let me know if you need to know anything more..
hope this helps

Hello, Thanks so much for the reply.

I have been talking with two different Doctor's in India over the past two days. Both of which trained in the US. I feel confident with both Dr's. The huge difference is one Dr says I need to stay in India for 20 days and the other will allow me to go home the day after ET and get all follow up care with my RE here in the states (it will just cost me more $$$) but I will only need to stay 8 days in India. Pro's and Con's, I like that fact that they seem more aggressive in their IVF process as well.

If I had the IVF done with my RE here in the states it would cost me $13,400 + my meds ($1,500 to $2,200) in USD and that is with my insurance covering Scans (that's all they cover)

If I went to India (Dr's with same training high success rates etc.) it would cost me about $3,500 USD for everything IVF, meds, lodging, flight, food.

Okay can anyone tell I am trying to convince myself LOL

Heather
PS again thanks for the reply

Smita, You don't have to tell me but if you don't mind me asking what Dr or clinic did you use for your IVF? You can PM me and I'll give you my e mail address :)
