Weight gain

Hi all,

I was just wondering if it is just me or do others gain weight on all these hormone drugs. I have done 2 IVF and now 1 FET and have gained approximately 5-10 pounds at each IVF. I have ultimately taken off the weight when they failed but I just feel gross.

Hello Pam,

I am afraid that weight gain in one of the side effects of the drugs...
And mother nature is more kind with some of us!!

I have had only one IVF cycle, and I gained few pounds. All around my belly (I am not slim, but I never had belly before, I always put on weight around my butt)
So this was kind of weird to me...

I was feeling real bad about it (especially that I had a BFN) and now, 6 months later, I have started a diet and it seems to work !!

I also want to say that I did not eat more than usual during the tmt.

Like you I have gained weight with each IVF cycle. In fact I gained 2 1/2 stone after 3! I've now started slimming world and lost 1 1/2 stone so it can be done, but you're right you feel worse when you get a negative.

After my second IVF I looked as though someone had pumped me up with a bicycle pump so I definitely know what you mean!

Anyone know which forms of exercises are ok to do. I haven't exercised for a few years now...not properly but before that (approx 4 yrs) I was gyming 5x/wk, and aerobics 4 nights. Think it's safe to start up aerobics again? I'm right at the start of treatment, so a few weeks to go b4 estimated EC and ET.

Oh yeah...also did anyone put any on as early as DR?! Don't know if it's drug (Prostap) or me comfort eating without really realising!!! I'm not obsessed....no really I'm not!

I think the eostrogen is the culprit here....it makes you put on weight in your tummy and thigh areas in preparation for pregnancy. I have had three stim cycles in 7 months and I am really feeling the effects. I also think that reduced exercise during cycling adds to the problem. I always feel pretty yucky and tend to spend a lot of time not moving!

Lavender, I think as long as you feel ok you should be able to do aerobics. My clinic doesn't recommend this sort of exercise following ET but they don't have a problem with any form of exercise prior.

This is just one more of the joys of ART!

Im glad I am not the only one that is struggling with weight at the moment. Mine is also going on round my tummy which is very unusual for me, like Souris it normally goes straight to my bottom Im paranoid about having a tummy because im always afraid that someone is going to ask me if im pregnant

If the treatment works I wont care about the weight gain
