Going through my first IVF

Post by Julie E »

Hi, I am new to this site. I am scheduled to have transfer on Saturday, October 29th. My retrieval day was Monday, October 24th and they took 16 good ones. On Tuesday the Doctor called and said that I had 12 make it through the first stage, I was very excited. He called again this morning and said he is a little concerned. I guess out of the 12 only 1 is really good and 3 are ok, the rest are very fragmented. I don't know what to think about this. Should I be worried that this isn't going to work, is it possible that I could end up with all bad ones by Saturday? We were hoping to have extras so we could freeze them and have more children in a year or so but now I don't know if we will be able to do that either. I don't know if we will be able to afford another cycle if they have to do another retrieval.

Anyone that would have a little insite to this would be great.

Hi Julie and welcome!

All it takes is one!! So keep your spirits up, it's not over yet!!
How many will they transfer? If you have two transferred, 2 others will be frozen waiting for you!

I think finance is a worry for all of us... My first IVF was in april2005 and I have to wait until Jan 2006 for a 2nd try...

Finger crossed for your ET, loads of PMA!!!
Take care

Hi Julie!
If you pop over to the general forum, you'll find lots of people in similar situations. There are lots of relevant threads including the November buddies thread (everyone cycling/2ww in November chat together). There is also one called High FSH/Poor responders which may be useful to you.
Good luck with everything

Julie,
Welcome!
Good Luck for your transfer tomorrow.
As Souris says, it takes only 1!!
Come on and join all the ladies in similar situations on the general forum.
Wishing you lots of luck for a positive.
On the General forum, if you post on the "Nov-05 test dates" thread, Camilla will add your name to the list of ladies testing in nov, that way we can all cheer you on..
