Chrissie,
Just read your post that you left for me and i cant believe that your clinic have abandoned your cycle cos you had 4 follies!!! I did have 5 follies, and my clinic said that they were going to drain two of them, but when i went back for my final scan they told me that 1 had stopped growing and they decided not to drain the 4th follie, so they did my IUI with all my 4 follies.
I honestly cant understand why they have abandoned your treatment because of just 4 follies, did they not even mention draining one of them at all?
What clinic are you at? I'm at the Cromwell clinic in Swansea. I suppose every clinic is different, but hun, i feel so bad for you, i know how traumatic all this IUI stuff can be. Best of luck to you in the future, hun, and keep me posted!!!!
Loadsa love,
Heather xxx
Got pregnant with IUI triplets in March 04. One triplet stopped growing at 9 weeks. Gave birth to twin boys in Sep 04, Ciaran sadly lost his fight. Brennan's thriving.Looking to give Brennan a sibling soon.

Hi Heather,

Am really confused now - were all 4 of your follies bigger than 16mm. I was told that I could not have more than 2 that were bigger than 16mm and at my final scan all 4 of them were that’s why they abandoned as there was too much of a chance of multiple pg. I did have some more follies another 2 or 3 but they were quite small and they weren’t worried about them. They also did a blood test to test my oestrogen levels and had that been lower than 2000 they would have gone ahead with the IUI but unfortunately it was above. It was never mentioned to me about draining them. My clinic is the Woking Nuffield Hospital in Woking, Surrey, its private. I know that they have a very strict policy on not taking chances on multiple pg and with IVF don’t allow more than 2 embies to be put back in – I notice on the board that some have a choice of 2 or 3.

They are allowing me to start again straight away I don’t have to wait for one clear cycle but I guess that’s because it was abandoned. I will ask about the draining bit at my next appointment in Jan. I can’t believe that two different clinics have such big differences in their methods. It will be very interesting doing our cycles together next month and comparing the advice that we get. Anyway this is turning into a long note so will stop going on and on now.
Lots of love Chrissi
Chrissi,
Hiya hun, how you doing today? Glad to hear that you can carry on with your treatment straight away, i'm dead impatient me, and i can't wait to get back on the IUI rollercoaster again, i wanted to start straight away too, but my clinic wont let me, as they want my hormones, or horrormones as dh calls them, lol,to get back to normal after the miscarraige. Guess i just hafta be patient.
When my clinic did the IUI, i had 3 follies at 21mm and 1 at 23mm, and they told me that they had to be 19mm+ for them to continue with the IUI. What they did say however, was that if i had produced more than about 8 follies, they would have gone for ICSI instead of IUI. To be honest, my clinic is fab, and the fertility specialist, dr. Nair is excellent. She's just so laid back. She did warn me of the risk of a multiple birth, but she didn't seem to be overly concerned about it. She said that at my age, 24, i could cope with them anyways..lol.
Do ask whatever you feel at your next appointment, it's what they are there for. Sounds like your clinic are really strict.
Anyways, hun, how is you? hope you and dh are well.
Geraldine, am so pleased to find someone else from the cromwell on here. Thought i was the only person in Swansea to be going through this!!! lol. Please keep in touch, wont you? Be nice to know how you are getting on. Hope all went well in the hunt for your turkey crown, we picked up ours from the market on monday, and it's now freezing it's butt off in the freezer..lol.
Anyways, hope to talk to you both soon,
Loadsa love,
Heather xxx
