IUI Questions

Post by arthurlam »

My wife tried IUI four times and still cannot get pregnant. I have a few questions to ask.

1. After the doctor injected the washed sperm into the cavity of the womb.
the doctor just asked my wife to rest 10 minutes and then go home. No blood test and medication are required after this from the doctor to confirm the proper hormone levels or even of ovulation. Is this normal ??

Yep, sounds about right to me!!

The only thing i can think of is is your wife using cyclogest supposotries? The help to keep her hormone levels up to aid implantation. Just a thought.

Best wishes,

Heather xxx
Got pregnant with IUI triplets in March 04. One triplet stopped growing at 9 weeks. Gave birth to twin boys in Sep 04, Ciaran sadly lost his fight. Brennan's thriving.Looking to give Brennan a sibling soon.

IUI can work better if you monitor prior to with blood tests and scans.

Additionally, meds can be taken to encourage more follicle developement and give you better odds.

After each IUI I've had progesterone suppositories to thicken the uterine lining to help prevent miscarriage.

I'd ask for medical intervention. Also, did they do an HSG to check if her tubes are open before doing the IUI?

Are you dealing with an RE or an OB/Gyn? I'd ask to be referred to an RE, they specialize in this. And it may be time to switch to someone giving you better care.

I want to add a few more information.

Before IUI, the doctor give my wife Serophene and do some scans.
One blood test will be done before chorionic Gonadotropin injected.

My wife did the HSG, the result is normal.

I am dealing with a doctor specialize in infertile.

A few more words I want to add

During the whole infertility treatment period (more than one year)
he donot require me to do any blood test. the only one I did is for the HIV, STD and Hepatitis B. And also he donot require me to do any semem analysis test. He just looked at the semem analysis report but this test is ordered by my family doctor and this test was done two months before the treatment.
