Could I donate Embryo's?

Post by NickiMark »

If I had IVf and only had some Embryo's transfered could I have the remaining one's donated?

How would this work? As we would be using Donor sperm? would we need consent from the sperm donor?

Just a thought at this stage..... xx

Hi Nicola
I also thought about this but we didn't have any 'spare' embryos so wasn't an option. Did discuss this with others and one view has stuck in my mind, what if your ivf doesn't work, would you be forever wandering if someone else's did and there's a part of you in the world that you don't know about. it is something to consider because it certainly made me think.

Spoke to the clinic about egg sharing, and I am intertested in doing this with a ivf cycle, but first we are doing IUI.

will keep u posted should we decide to egg share, I may need more info....But right now it's IUI for us...

best of luck with your tmt and I think your great for thinking of helping others as well as yourself . you can freeze and hand over the embrios but I am not sure wether or not this can be done like egg sharing .

i know at my clinic
when we did our embies they would store the frozen embies there for 1 year. then you could donate them or you could use them our you could pay to have them kept some where else.

we had signed a paper saying that we would donate ours after a year.
but we ended up using ours.
i think it is a wonderful gift to do.
we had been waiting a long time for a donated embie.

We are donating our eggs, my eggs!!!

But as we use donor sperm, cant freeze embryo's. This is a worry, but thats the rules.
IUI using donor in 2005

2nd IVF 4 eggs all failed to fertilise 2009
3rd IVF successful 2010 pregnant Miscarried early
