vaesectomy reversal

Post by BIGBACH »

I know this is a IVF chat but I thought I'd Just ask. I'm having a hard time finding support on this subject. :? We had our vr done on Dec. 2. Dh had a 14 year old vasectomy. The Dr. said on the right side he found excellent fluid but clear with no sperm found. On the left side he found excellent fluid again with lots of sperm tails found. He said we have a 80 to 90% chance of sperm flowing again, and to send him pictures of babies . Has anyone had the same outcome? What does it mean if no sperm was found on the right side ? Is he still making it on that side. And will the sperm get better on the left side? Help so many questions?

Sorry - cant really answer your question only give you our experience. My DH had a reversal carried out (only 4 yrs after orig carried out!), and that was six yrs ago - during the last 3 yrs of IVF (cus I wasnt getting pregnant,) we have noticed a considerable increase in sperm count and motility etc, each time he has given his sample for IVF. But the last test showed that he now has Antibodies, which apparently my body will reject and kill off - hence - cant get pregnant naturally - although the dr said it isnt impossible. But the DR did say who ever had carried out the reversal, had done a really good job of it.

Sorry I couldnt be of any help - I wish you well with your treatment.

Hi Heather!

I think it is a great result, and your Dr feels really confident.
I have read on many reversal sites that the sperm comes back slowly into the fluids, it can take sometimes up to one year to have full "recovery" (have the same amount of sperm than before the vasectomy). But i think it is really a good sign if they already found sperm tails on one side!

I would not worry too much! and yes, send us baby pics!
I wish you a (soon) helathy pregnancy!

Take care
