REFLEXOLOGY

Post by NickiMark »

Now, Reflexology looks good!!

I think this may be the alternative to Accupuncture ( The needle thing, scares me!!)

I am stressed, I think I need the stress sorted to aid my fertility....

Has one used Reflexology?

Girl - you really are trying everything aren't you?!! I can't really talk tho cos I've tried most things aswell!! I tried reflexology, not for any length of time, so I can't comment on whether it helps, but it definitely helps to de-stress! I struggled to stay awake when I had it so I would recommend it as a way to relax. I'm having accupuncture, the needles really don't hurt, and that really helps me to relax and its helped with all the PMT symptoms. I have no symptoms now, if you could manage the needles its definitely the way to go!

Hi NickiMark-
I don't know much about reflexology...but I can tell you that after 2 failed IVF/ICSI's I'm willing to try anything!

Last week I had a reiki session...which was very cool! And very relaxing. When the woman put her hands on my back at the bottom towards my bum my body jumped...it was very weird. She said afterwards that my body was releasing toxins. My guess was maybe from my kidneys since I know IVF can be very taxing on the kidneys....just a thought.

Also...I tried acupuncture last night for the first time. I've been on bcp for a week now and we will start stimming again on January 9th. I hate needles too...but it really wasn't too bad. I was a little nervous as she started to put them in and a few of the needles on my right ankle/foot hurt a bit when she put them in, but once in, they were OK and there wasn't pain...maybe a little pressure but no pain. Then she put the heat lamp over my belly and left me in the quiet, dark room for about a half an hour to relax. I'm not sure how relaxed I was, since I was trying not to envision all the needles sticking out of my body... Anyway, the whole point of this is that it was more cool than it was painful. So if you're even slightly interested, I suggest trying it. If you don't like it, just let them know and you don't have to go back!

Reflexology

Post by chellejaya »

Hi there

Like you, I have tried every single method of aiding conception.
I have a four leaf clover that a friend gave to me, a wreath of corn (apparently that is a fertilty symbol), various pieces of jewelery (fertility symbols/crystals etc) that friends have donated, headstands!! You name it, I have tried it.
A couple of (separate) friends suggested I tried reflexology as they also had frineds that fell pregnant almost immediately after a course.
I booked a course of 6 sessions and went every week for an hour at a time. I had the soft method as the firm method was just too painfull for me.
I really enjoyed every session, unfortunately, it didn't help me to concieve, although two of the other girls my reflexologist was treating did fall (there were 4 of us at the time).
I would definately recommend you try it as even if it doesn't help with ttc, it really does help with other things i.e sleep, relaxation amongst others.
Wishing you well and good luck xxx

Nickimark,

I haven't tried reflexology, but I am doing acupuncture and started that about 6 weeks before my cycle. I knew it couldn't get me pregnant cos my one remaining tube was blocked, but it helped me relax and cope with all the drugs. I got a +ive result, but the clinic said that prior to my cycle 6 ladies recently had done acu and none got +ive. I think most of the alternative therapies are similar and you just have to find the one that you like best. Acupuncture is not sore, but it sure is relaxing. I normally fall asleep, but I must admit, I always think about my embies whilst I'm getting session (trying to send positive vibes).

I would suggest you give a couple of therapies a go and see what suits you best.

Take care. :D

Hi Nicky

I have had both reflexology and accupuncture.

Reflexology is very relaxing and all I wanted to do was go to sleep. Like Chellejaya the main reason I did it was because people told me they had fallen pregnant after trying it. I stopped after a few months and switched to accupuncture, I didnt find this anywhere near as relaxing at the time but it did seem to help reduce stress with the IVF. Good luck which ever you decide on

Oh Wow, thank you!!! I will try it for sure...... I have booked an aromatherapy massage, in Jan will ask also about reflexology.

The accupuncture thing still worries me with the needles, and the fact that 'bubbles on Little Britain' had a session, now all i see is her with her needles proturding out and running downing the stairs!!!

I'll let u know what happens ok xx

Nicki

Sorry - I missed this thread otherwise I would have replied sooner.

Before my last treatment I had weekly sessions with a reflexologist who had a history of clients with fertility issues.

I obviously can't say for certain whether it helped in any way, but I will say that it definitely controlled my stress and anxiety levels.

Take care and good luck

Nicki

I hope you enjoy the reflexology and that it brings you loads and loads of success.

Perhaps you could ask if she has any ORANGE towels she could place in the room.

Little P hi ya x xx

I had a massage last night, and apparently I was speaking to her about it, and she said my back was really knotted on the left.... the left relates to emotional stress!!! interesting huh?

Cant wait for the Reflexology now!!!
