Today I had my 1st scan. I am at 6weeks and 4days. My doc was not able to figure out the heart beat. By now, I think we should have a heart beat. I am going to have another one next week. Is anything like this happened to anyone and later they heard the heart beat? I am so scared and thinking that, this is the end of my ivf journey. I am having another beta hcg on monday to make sure that pregnancy is progressing.
BTW, Happy New Year to all of you and may god bless you!!!!!!!
Seems really naughty of your clinic to give you this stress - my clinic doesn't even look for heart beat until 8 weeks and even then you can't hear it you can just see this tiny movement. At 6 weeks all they look for is whether there is a sac and whether there is anything in it. Don't give up hope yet - it's quite possible that it was too early to see heart.
Best of luck

Cherly is right, you can't hear the heart beat so early on, you can't usually see it until week 7. They only want to scan you at week 6 to see how many sacs they are and if anything is in it.
Try not to worry, everything will be fine.
Happy New Year.

Hi Reddy - here are a few snippets copied from previous messages - hope they help put your mind at rest -
don't worry the same happened to my sister and everything was fine. She was 7 weeks but at 8 wks she saw the heart beat
my specialist won't scan until seven weeks for this very reason. She says that it's quite likely you won't see ANYTHING prior to this, so she doesn't see the point of putting women through the stress.
we too had no heartbeat at early scan and my clinic say they dont like to scan early cos of this stress.
Hang in there
Love

Hi Reddy- I am new to this message board, and writing because I am in the same boat...I had my u/s at 6 weeks (Friday, Dec. 30), and saw a gestational sac and yolk sac, but no heart beat. I am stressing since this is the first time I have been pregnant in 2 1/2 years (after 3 IUIs and my 3rd IVF.) I miscarried twice prior to starting infertility treatment.
I had 3 beta hCG's, all great numbers... 449, 949 two days later, and 5285 five days after that. But, I have read that you can usually see a fetal pole and heartbeat with betas that level. My doctor won't see me for another scan until Jan. 11th, and won't do any more betas.
