I am 41 years old, DH is 43. My FSH is low. I don't have any children, but my DH has a 12 yr son. Since August 2005, we have done 2 cycles with Gonal-f and IUI.
We just finished 1 - IVF with no luck. I had 6 mature follicles, but my RE was able to retrieve only 3 eggs. 3 follicles were empty. We transferred 2 blastocysts on day 5, but no pregnancy. We are trying to decide what to do next. Has anyone had a similar situation of empty follicles?
We are meeting with our RE in 2 weeks for our Post IVF conference. We need to decide how to proceed.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Sorry I cant answer your question for you. Just wanted to say I am sorry your cycle ended like it did and I hope you find the answers your looking for.
Just want to welcome you to the site. As far as im aware, empty follicles can be normal. Not everyone is guaranteed to have an egg in it. (I do vaguely remember my clinic's notes giving stats on the percentage of eggs to follicles). There are quite a few different threads running over on the general forum, including an over 40's thread. It might be worth asking this same question over there. The general forum tends to be busier and there are some very knowledgeable ladies who post on there! (Who can probably advise on low FSH levels as well).
I wish you all the best with your future treatment. One thing to remember is that they can learn a lot from your cycles on how you respond to the medication (and we all respond differently) so they can adjust/change your drugs as nec to suit you next time.
Take care
Love Kim
