I am new to this site, and basically just looking for a support group while my wife and I pursue the road to in-vitro fertilization.
We already have 4 children, and after the last one, my wife and I decided to have her tubes tied. Not a smart move, because now almost 5 years late, we are wanting another child.
We have already had our consult, and are just waiting for her cycle to start so we can begin the process. With all of the research that I have been doing, I am just a little afraid of the pain that she may endure with all of the injections and things of that nature. Is it bearable? Is it as bad as I am making it out to be?
Our doctor informed us that we will be doing the Luteal Lupron Protocol. There really isn't much information on the web about this specific protocol, and i was just wondering if there is anyone out there who has gone through it, that could provide play by play details on what to expect.
I hope you and your wife will be sucessful with this cycle!
Personnaly i think IVF is alot more difficult for the mental that for the body. Of course the treatment is not pleasant, but the injections are not that bad and most of the time EC and ET are painless.
You have to know that your wife might suffer from mood swings, she might be harsh on you sometimes. Please just be patient and understanding with her, that's all you can do...
wishing you the best!
Take care

Thanks, that really helps. Some people must think that we are crazy, to want a 5th child
However, we are playing the waiting game, waiting for her menses to start. It was due on Saturday, but as always, when you want something to happen, it takes it's time.
My wife's cycle started yesterday!!!! I am so excited. We have to wait for the doc to call us back with a scheduled date for her HSG Ultrasound, and then she starts the Birth Control Pills on Saturday. I can't believe that this is starting. It is so exciting.
Hello and welcome, it's lovely to have a man's view on all this!
The IVF procedures are Ok. Just a neccessary evil really. The jabs don't really hurt. Like Souris said it more mental than physical...and mood swings are the norm!
You may like to join a specific thread on the forum as you and your wife go through the cycle at the same time as others. Try Feb/March buddies or New year buddies. Lots of info, support and advise around. The ladies who post are great, any questions just ask away and someone will be able to help.
You may want to suggest that your wife take a couple of painkillers before the HSG. It's quick, but definitely very uncomfortable. Just wondering why they might be doing this procedure if they already know your wife's tubes are tied?
