Anyone at St Mary's Hospital in manchester

Post by christine202 »

Hi all

Just wanted to find out if anyone was doing Fet at St Mary's hospital in Manchester.

I called the hospital today to find out when I could start my next Fet. They advised me that due to staff shortgages they have had to cancel all Fet treatment at present, and are only taking patients for a fresh cycle.
They couldn't advise when they would be able to accept me next. I would have to phone up when next af arrived and see if they are in a position to accept me. That's ok but my cycle is not exactly regular and could take a long time before arrives again.

I think that this is totally unacceptable. Was just wondering if this had happened to anyone else, or what you thought?

Hope you are all ok.
Take care
luv christine xx

christine,

Am not at that hospital, but just wanted to say how disgusting I think that is. Do you have to go there (i.e. for funding reasons) or can you go to another clinic? There is no reason why you cannot have your notes and embryos transferred to another place that can take you, although as I haven't ever changed hospitals I'm not sure how long this takes?

So sorry to hear about this. It sucks that this process is hard enough as it is without this added complication.

Hope it works out for you.

Hi there :D

I am not currently having treatment at St Marys but am due to start there in the Summer. I will have fresh transfer cycle on ICSI.

I am really angry for you and think this treatment is disgusting. . I too am unsure what the procedure is exactly but HFEA may be able to help you. I spoke to them as the stats weren't very high at St Marys in comparison to others and they said I could transfer to another clinic but as was on NHS funding my local NHS trust may not allow it.

It is terrible that they have led you to lose faith in them like this. I have waited 3 years for funding and would be heart broke to be in limbo again.

Hope you are not too downhearted.......xx

hi to Christine

Iam currently having treatment at St Marys but iam having a fresh cycle.
I finished a frozen cycle in October. Luckily we got accepted for another cycle had to wait until now to start a fresh.
From when we reached the top of the list Nov 2004, i didnt start my treatment until Apr 2005 they kept telling me sorry try next month.
I carnt understand why they have said this to you, having FET is less blood test less scans, surpose thats the NHS for you though.
You have probably noticed how many people are having treatment at St Marys from the amount of people that are waiting in the waiting room everytime you go there, to many patients not enough staff.
Dont worry hopefully you will not have to wait to long.

Thanks girls for your replies. The whole thing does suck. But it is unfortunately the Nhs for you, and at present is our only option as cannot afford to go private.

Not sure about the changing clinic thing. Will have to make some enquires. But Manchester is quite handy for us, and depends where we would get sent.

Think we might have to sit and wait.

Anyway good luck to you all.

Thanks again
