Hi All,
I am in the 9th week and still going crazy with worry! I guess becasue we have all been through so much and faced many hurdles its hard for us to believe that it is really happening and that we won't be faced with more bad news. I came across this OBGYN site that had some of the best information on miscarriages that I have found that might help us breath a little easier as time goes on. It seems that once you get over some growth hurdles you can really start to relax a bit (although I am guessing from this point worrying comes standard for Moms!)
""Table 1. Incidence of Pregnancy Failure in the First Trimester

TOTAL LOSS OF CONCEPTION 50-70
CLINICAL MISCARRIAGES (TOTAL) 15-25
< 6 weeks 18
6-9 weeks 4
> 9 weeks 3
EPF* In Primigravidas 6-10
Risk of EPF after 3 Miscarriages 25-30
Risk of EPF in 40-year-old Woman 30-40
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*EPF = early pregnancy failure
After ectopic pregnancy is excluded, the viability of an early pregnancy can be evaluated by measuring the gestational or chorionic sac size, the crown-rump length (CRL) of the embryo, and/or the fetal heart rate. The possibility of early pregnancy loss persists until the end of the embryonic period--ie, 70 days after the onset of the last menstrual period.3 Once a gestational sac has been documented on ultrasonographic scanning, subsequent loss of viability in the embryo will occur in 11.5% of pregnancies. After the embryo attains a CRL of 5 mm, the probability of subsequent loss falls to 7.2%. The loss rate drops rapidly thereafter to 3.3% for embryos with a CRL of 6 mm to 10 mm and to 0.5% for embryos with a CRL of 10 mm or more (ie, 5 weeks postovulation or 7 weeks after the last menstrual period). This is the point where early prenatal investigation can begin."
