IVF and NHS. PLS HELP.

Post by Pat19 »

Hi All,

I wonder if anyone can help me here. I found this statement below, written by Samuel Marcus on this website this morning and was wondering if this is correct about 3 cycles of IVF tmt on the NHS. The reason why I'm asking is because, I am 33 with PCOS, been infertile for over 6 years, so to me I fall in this catergory, wouldn't you say, but yet I've only been given 1 IVF cycle, which failed and now been told I need to go Private. Has anyone else come across this before? or better still, has anyone received their 3 cycles?

Thanks
Pat

The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) in the UK has issued guidelines on infertility treatment.
Women aged 23-39 who have identifiable causes for their infertility problems and have been infertile for at least three years, should be offered three cycles of IVF treatment on the NHS.

Depends on what part of the country you are. Currently I dont get 1 cycle as I live in Buckinghamshire..

It makes me so angry..
