I was hoping some of you could share your experience with high hcg numbers. I had my first bhcg on dpo 16 (dpet 14) and my number was 900. 2 days later it was 2880. The doctor has said that these numbers are perfectly "normal" but most websites I've found don't show hcg numbers anywhere near mine. Yes, we transferred 2 embies so twins is for sure a possibility which could be a reason for the higher numbers. I think the concern in the back of my mind is that I'm having a molar pregnancy since high numbers seems to be a sign of that. I know the chances are low... but, just wanted to see what other people have experienced.
Molar pregnancys are extremely rare, I too worried about that when i had my high beta, I read a lot about them and worried a lot, but i was pregnant with twins.
I know its hard not to worry, but please dont only 1 in 1000 pregnancies are molar, 1 in 90 are twins ( if not more sorry i cant remember the exact stat).
Odds are that you have a very strong single or twins
best of luck. I hope you can have a scan done soon to ease your mind.
Thanks for the encouragement. I have my 6 week scan in 3 weeks. I'm hoping that the times goes more quickly and less stressfully than the dreaded 2ww. I just need to keep up with the PMA. Good thing the Olympics are on, as I am a total Olympics junkie and they are a good distraction at night.
Congratulations on your +ve
Have you checked out www.betabase.com ? It shows low and high ranges of HCG levels.
Take care

Hi Ladies!
Julie, I know exactly what you're going through!
We transferred 2 embryos on 1/24 and on my first blood 13 days after transfer my hcg was 606 and my progesterone was 23.6...which the docs said was a strong positive. A week later I had my second blood and my hcg was 10,348 and my progesterone was 230. The docs said the numbers were fantastic and to stop taking my progesterone but I started to panic about a molar pregnancy too (Jaymee thank you for the info on molar pregnancies!). My first scan is scheduled for 2/24 and at that point I'll be 6 1/2 weeks.
I can only imagine how you're doing having to wait another few weeks for your scan! The days do go by SO SLOW and I'm having such a hard time focusing at work! In the mean time, we'll watch the Olympics and keep our fingers crossed we may have two healthy babies!

best of wishes to both of you and congrats on your high HCGs - the stats are in your favour girls, strong singleton or twins...I had betaHCG of 380 on ICSI+13 - it went through the roof in the first few weeks, I was lucky and had a scan at 5 weeks, so just a week after test day (but then my gynae is an angel and I'd had 4 embies put back so she was more concerned about quads I think!!!) - just saw the sac of course but a strong singleton, and as Kim says if you look at the beta base you are not off the charts atall.
big hugs, and try and relax til your scan, hard to do I know, but it is generally a very +ve thing to have a nice high beta.

Thanks for the words of encourgement bigJ! The waiting is so hard...one more week for me before my scan. I'm (and my DH!) so happy to have finally gotten a positive that one healthy baby would be a blessing...and two healthy babies would be out of this world! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you too Julie!

We transferred 3 embies and all 3 took initially (so those were triplet HCG values). We know that our numbers were high, but the doc thought we'd only have twins. He was equally surprised to find 3 sacs. One triplet didn't make it past the first trimester.
Good luck on the 2ww. Though stressful, this time is less stressful than the wait to wonder if you are pregnant
You are....now you just need to know how many and how healthy!
