Sarah

Certainly not a trivial question, just ask anything here!!

The drugs seem to react differently with each person. I didn't gain weight or feel bloated with mine, but I know that there are several ladies who did.

The time I felt larger was during the 2ww.

I hope that things go well for you.

Sarah,

I didn't get bloated with drugs either. Did eat a lot but that probably had nothing to do with IVF. I did feel very bloated after egg collection. They blow air in there to move things out of the way, to get to ovaries so you do feel a bit bloated then... severe bloating is a sign of OHSS I believe.

Best of luck with your first attempt and remember to relax as much as possible and clear your schedule.

Thank you! much appreciated

My husband and myself are quite spiritual people so im going to try using reiki, acupuncture to relieve stress and negative thinking!

Has anyone tried alternative therapy and found it helped??

Sarah

I had Reflexology prior to starting my treatment - I don't know if there's any link to success but it certainly relaxed me and made me feel ready for it all.

Good luck

I used Acupunture to help me ovulate natrually (no sucess i have pcos), before moving on to ivf, i liked the acuputure so i contiuned it during the run up to EC and as soon as possible after egg transfer, then i didnt do any more acuputure (because my acuputurest doesnt reconmend it during the 2ww) until i got my positive, then for the first 14 weeks of the pregnancy i went every 2 weeks. I loved just chating to the acuputurist and she really cared, I really felt it made a big difference to my positive thinking and my ability to relax.

re bloated

Post by em »

It's entirely normal to feel bloated, my jeans definitely felt tighter as i began to stimulate but there was no discomfort. You shouldn't feel sore until the time approching egg collection when your ovaries have swollen greatly due to the amount of follicles being produced in them, which are approaching maturity. Even though you feel bloated try to drink as much water as possible. I was concerned about the weight issue too, but didn't put on any at all - as someone else has said, this is perhaps more likely to be due to comfort eating. I have given up chocolate though which helps with the waistline issue, i was told it contains a toxin which like caffeine, is best avoided at this time.
Acupuncture is ideal too - once a week during cycle and before and after ET is ideal. Not, as advised, during 2 week wait.
Very best of luck x
