Pregnancy and chicken pox

Post by leigh »

Hi Ladies
I am a primary school teacher and there has been a few cases of chicken pox in school, one in my class. Iam 21 weeks pregnant and i've had chicken pox already. Is there any danger to my baby?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi Leigh

A lady at my work is preg and a member of her family has chicken pox, her doctor told her because she's already had it, she'll be fine and the baby will too, she will be immune to it.

I hope this helps.

I really am not sure because I was always led to believe that pregnant women shouldn't come in contact with anybody that as chicken pox, the thing is you may of already have CP but that doesn't mean you wouldn't get shingles.

I was told that you should always get in touch with your GP should you be in contact with someone who has had CP. They are contagious at certain times, I believe it is before the spots appear!!!

Do call your GP just to be on the safe side.
