INJECTIONS OR SUPPOSOTRIES

Post by Karron »

Hi Everyone

I am due to start a medicated FET at the end of March and was wondering if you could give me your personal opinions regarding progesterone ie. what is the better method the injections or the supposotries. I had a FET at the end of last year and used Cyclogest Supposotries but started bleeding heavily 2 days post transfer. We had an appointment with the Hospital and they said that this was because I used the suppositories annally and they weren't being absorbed properly and that next time I am to use them vaginally. I am very dubious because of what happened and therefore I was going to ask for the injections this time around.

I would be extremely grateful for your views and also any tips ie. good food sources to eat and what to do to improve circulation in the uterus.

Good luck to you all.

Hi Karron

I cant give much advice on which is the best way to take progesterone, all i can say is that on both my ivf cycle and my recent FET i have used the pessaries, mainly anally (less messy) and with both cycles have had a positive.

Wishing you all the best and Good Luck

love

Hi Karron,
I am not sure what the benefits are of one over the other. My first IVF cycle I did the injections and now I am on bed rest for my second attempt and am using the vag. supp.. My doctor said he wanted to try the vag. supp. and also gave me one valium because they tend to switch things up when the first cycle doesn't work. I like the supp. better than the shot because there is no pain involved although I am having a hard time remember to do them at the same time.
Good Luck and Best Wishes!

Hi Korron

I am pg after a donor eggs cycle, not disimilar to an FET protocol. I had injections and pessaries of progesterone to 14 weeks and then reduced to 16 weeks:

Injections - progesterone 2.5% 2ml / day
pessaries - Ultrogestan 300 mg/day vaginally

also:
progynova (oestrodiol) 2mg/day
divigel (oestrodiol gel) 2x 1mg /day

for blood flow and cell health I took (still take):
baby aspirin 100mg/day
vitamin E 100mg/day
Vegepa (www.vegepa.com) - 1000mg/day

To help implantaion and avoid immune issues (I have immune thyroiditis):
methylpredisolone 4mg/day

I found this protocl very gentle and effective, had no bleeding and breast tenderness only once pg. I was also happier with the oral oestrogen and the gel.

I was pregnant once before in 2005 with donor eggs (IM Barcelona) they use 400mg x2/day ultrogestan then double it if you get pg., plus oestrodiol patches I miscarried that pegnancy and had a lot of bleeding,
which may or may not be related to the protocol.

hope that helps

pm me if you have any questions

hugs

Jules

I'm towards the end of my 2ww. My RE has had me doing AM & PM vaginal suppositories plus the injections every other day. I also took AM & PM estrogen pills to keep my esroten level up too.

I had one friend that did the vaginal suppositories plus the injections every day (she had a baby). And I had another friend do the vaginal suppositories, but no injections at all (she miscarried after 5 days of +ive blood test).
