I was going to donate my eggs with this cycle. I managed to produce 24 follies, but when it came to egg collection i was devastated to find that i'd already ovulated and had only 8 eggs left. Sadly the egg share was cancelled and i feel incredibly guilty about that. I keep thinking of the poor woman who's been so badly let down by me - i really feel for her.
As for decideding who has what eggs - it's literally just a 50/50 split, although if you get an odd number, you get to keep the extra egg.
Hope this helps a little hun.

Got pregnant with IUI triplets in March 04. One triplet stopped growing at 9 weeks. Gave birth to twin boys in Sep 04, Ciaran sadly lost his fight. Brennan's thriving.Looking to give Brennan a sibling soon.

How disappointing for you Heather, to have had so many follicles and lose two thirds on the way. I don't think you should feel guilty about the girl who would have benefitted from your egg-share. She will be placed with another donor as soon as possible. You didn't let the other girl down, these things happen, and don't always go according to plan.
Nicky, I haven't done an egg share before, but just wanted to reply spond to your questions. It must be a hard decision to make, because there is always the possibility that you may not succeed with your own tmt, but the recipient may well be successful. However, you are still young, and if I remember right, your difficulties are with your DH's condition, so if you have donor sperm from a proven donor I do wonder if you would have a better chance with IVF than with IUI. I know some girls have success with IUI (I did not) but with IVF, at least you know that the sperm has fertilized the eggs before they are transferred back. With IUI, you never really know whether they managed to get together - so to speak.
If I am right, I think you can also ask not to be told if the recipient of your eggs gets pg or not. So if you were unsuccessful with your tmt, you don't need to know about the other couple, if you don't want to. The other thing to remember is that with IVF you have the chance of a few frosties, if you are lucky, so even if your first fresh attempt with your egg-share fails, you could well have some frosties to try again with.
Good luck with your decision making,

I know you wont mind me putting my oar in here old buddy I think it's a wonderful thing you are thinking of doing. I know it makes IVF more affordable to you, but just think also of the lady, if all goes well that will get her UK donor in you - you are an angel. One less lady waiting for two years for her eggs. We "spoke" last year about IUI chances vs IVF so you know the chances are lower, but I understand you giving it a last shot as it is gentler for you and more affordable.
As for the who gets pg thing, you know there are so many factors involved, you know what me and dh went through. You could try and see it scientifically (hard I know) that if that did happen, sad for you as it would be, you would know that you have good eggs - as fertilisation and pregnancy is the only real test of good eggs - then you'd be confident to have another go! you could alsways ask for some sperm from her dh just to be sure (sorry if that was a bad joke)
Just thought I'd give you another perspective on things!

hiya! i was very confused about egg share too, until i went to see my consultant on monday.he explained everything in detail, and now we cant wait to get started.theres alot of tests to go through, but if they are ok,i am more than happy to go ahead.i couldnt believe how low the costs are.if i had known,i probably would have tried egg share instead of the 2 attempts i had at ivf.you have to look on the bright side....if it doesnt work for you,but does for the recipient,at least you know youve helped someone to acheive their dream! good luck xx
I am about 85% sure right now!!! I am sure I will do it one day just need to be 100% myself huh???
