Hi there...... I have a question and it seems daft to ask but why does implantation not work ? I recevied a BFN last week and have decided to wait three months until we try again...... but why will it work a second time ? it seems so unfair. I have ordered some fertility plus vitamins from Marylyn Granville and I will stick with my healthy eating and drinking, is there anything else I should be doing to help implantation to be secure ? Best wishes Kyla.
I really don't know why it doesn't work sometimes. Maybe some other people will know. I think it's just mother nature. I had 2 eggs (embryos?) replaced in January - but only one implanted. So obviously the environment was good enough - but the other one just didn't stick. I think that it chose a spot that wasn't exactly right.
So I don't think you're not doing something right - I think it's just the way things happen.
Kyla - although I can't answer your question, I do have one suggestion. My doctor has me taking a low dose aspirin every day. When I asked why - they told me that studies have shown that the aspirin aids in implantation. Just thought I would share. Good luck, I hope your next round has a different result.

Hey Kyla, Sorry to hear things didnt work out this time, but they will! Mother nature, otherwise known as sods law I think! From what I can gather its still a real mystery to the doctors even. Some embryos are destined never to be viable and implant, but there is no way to know that at such early stages (ie 3 day transfer). I'm interested in the clinics that transfer at blastycyst stage though (ie transfer at 5 days). There are lots of studies happening at the moment on it, different clincs have different opinions on this, but apparently if the embryo survives to this 5 day stage, the chances of implantation are possibly higher. Not all clinics practise this regulary yet, mine doesnt. Only some are able to keep them cultured until 5 days. I would see if your doctor has a view on this though. Its an expensive practise for clinics, they dont all do it.
The aspirin thing is related to blood thinning, and supposed improved circulation to your uterus, my own clinic didnt recommend the aspirin specifically, but as I figured the really good circulation has also got to be helpful. I dont know if it helped but I went for a really brisk walk (slight run) before my transfer and ate / drank quite a bit of ginger over the period, which improves circulation.
Last year I was having acupuncture to increase blood flow and circulation too with a Chinese Medicine practitioner. That didnt work for me, but this was before I tried IVF, and I had blocked tubes so it wouldnt have fixed that!
Keep up being healthy its bound to increase your chances. Good luck for next time.
