Hi, I am new to this game! Am living in the north of France and have been on a French language forum for the last few days, but would like to exchange info and ideas in English too!
My background: am 44 yrs of age and had never met the man I wanted to have babies with until 5 yrs ago! My partner is 10 yrs younger and we have a fab relationship. After almost 3 yrs trying "naturally" and 2 international moves later I sought help from a local gyny whose reaction floored me "at your age?" "it's highly unlikely it'll ever happen", and after insistance was put on Clomid for 3 months after various tests all which had proved ok. Still no result and her reaction was "you're just too old!"

I left the practice in tears, decided not to give up, did some research and made a new appointment where I told her that if she wouldn't help I'd find someone who would! All in all this woman made us lose 2 precious years and when we finally met the person who could help in our area I was just over the official age limit to be covered by our health insurance! To cut a long story short, our fist IVF cycle was Nov last yr and after much better response than expected 2 embryos were transferred, unfortunately it wasn't a success

, but the head of the traetment centre was so enthusiastic that he suggested giving it another go

! Last Monday 3 embryos were transferred and I now have one more week to wait for the blood test - the suspense is killing me! In spite of what we have been through, we are both very optimistic and are sure that one way or another we WILL have our baby!
Can you relate to this? Are you an "old first time mother"? Any tips?
Any particular discussion groups I should join? Thanks for reading my story and I look forward to swapping stories and experiences!!
