endometreosis and failed ivf

Post by gbnut »

Hi there I am new to this board and am finding it very helpful. I am 31. I have had one full cycle of ivf/ icsi were i ahd 5 grade Is. Two were put in me and Three frozen. Unfortunately my body rejected them. Last month i had two frozen put in me and was told that they were textbook perfect but again my body rejected them. I have severe endo and one tube is blocked and the other is mostly blocked. I am about to move clinics as i have had my one cycle off the NHS and am about to move to A.R.G.C. and my dilema is to have endo surgery prior to seeing him. There is a 3 month waiting list. Should i have a clear out of my endo. Has anyone else done this prior to ivf??? Will this improve my chances or make it worse????? If i have the surgery it could also reduce the pain i have each month. However this is normally short lived and my endo comes back worse after about 6 months!

Any sugestions??????

Hi, I can't be of much help since this is my first cycle and I have only had transfer today. Just wanted to let you know that I am in the same boat as you with the endo and I had surgery late last year and then went straight onto Zoladex implants. This helped immensely with the pain, but the reason the Dr put me on it was to avoid the endo getting worse again after the surgery. The Zoladex 'down regulates' you anyway and so can work in with the beginning of ivf tmt.

Have you had an HSG to check out the condition of your uterus?

There is quite a bit of info on the web about endo and immune issues...

Good luck.

Hi there
I'm about to start my next cycle with ARGC. I also suffer with endometriosis, although not severely, and have had 2 failed ivf attempts already. I managed to get an appointment within the first week of applying at ARGC, which was incredible given I was expecting to wait for 3 months! Perhaps you should phone and make your application, and you might find they squeeze you in sooner.
My main point though, is that they are incredibly helpful on the phone. So perhaps you should phone up and have a chat with them, see what they think you should do. They have very set views on things and the receptionists are incredibly switched on.

I have heard though, that surgery increases your chances of ivf success...so maybe you should be prepared to have the surgery first....

Good luck!

What are the symptoms of bodily rejection of embryo?

Post by SASA »

It's mentioned that there has been rejection of the embryo by the body in embryo transfer in IVF, how do we know that there is a rejection?
What are the symptoms?
I felt serious pain in my abdomen and needed bed rest for 2 days after the embryo transfer last Friday, was that rejection?
Can anyone who has similar experience assist?

Did not know until i got BDN the doctors say that my body rejected them because i have severe endometriosis my body fights against anything that is put in me and would attack my embrios. I did not feel any pain with frozen but did with 1st lot oc ivf. There is a test that can be done called the killer cell test which can tell if you are prone to attacks but i do not know much about it at the moment. i will hopefully learn more about it when i see my new consultant.

Thanks, gbnut! :)
Good luck with you new consultant.
I am 5 days after my first IVF ET, am trying to get more rest.
I had not read this message board before ET and walked down some long stairs after dining out with DH, not sure whether I had lost one or both of the embryos that way.
Anyway, I just wait and pray.

April 2006 IVF/ICSI failed

Post by SASA »

BFN for my 1st IVF/ICSI in April 2006.
I tried to review what I have done and tried to see what I can improve next time. My doc said that probably there is no reason for the failure.
However, I think may be I have moved too much.
I had a long walk in the country side (6 hours) last Friday which is the 15th day after ET, I feel uterine cramps Sat. night and AF on Sunday.
:( I usuallly only have AF cramps on the 2nd day of AF. This time I have cramps before AF.
I think I will try to take 2 weeks leave from work and social activities next time. :?

I am about to have my transfer on Saturday and my doctor just says take it easy for 2 days. Is this enough??? Do I need to "take it easy" or do I need bedrest and how many days for the best chance of preg???

Good Luck to your ET

Hi Suzie, you may refer to the Subject Do's & Don'ts in the General Forum. There are a lot of information about what one should or should not do in the 2ww.
I will try to stay at home as much as possible in my next FET 2ww in late June. :) Sasa
