OHSS Sufferers, advise needed

Post by chellejaya »

Hi there

I just need to ask any OHSS sufferers some advise as I am experiencing some problems.
I am nearly 12 weeks pregnant and at around 4/5 weeks spent a week in hospital suffering with OHSS. My ovary was at 9cm and I was told that this could possibly stay like this for around 10/12 weeks.
I was now hoping at this stage (12wks) I would start to see some improvement but unfortunately, I can still feel that my ovary is very large. It isn't agony but its a bit painful and more irritating than anything.
The other worrying this is that on a couple of occasions, I have noticed brown spotting when i go to the loo.
I haven't contacted anyone (hospital/mw) yet as I wanted to just ask if anyone here has experienced the same problems and whether the spotting is to do with my ovary or something more serious.
Has anyone still had OHSS symptoms for longer than 10/12 weeks?
Any advise or info would be helpful and hopefully put my mind at rest.
Many thanks

Michelle

I also forgot to mention that I have halved my dose of Progesterone Pessaries - Would this have an effect???

Just bumping this up as I'm worried it will disappear off the page with no advise.

Dear Chellejaya,

I had OHSS about the same time as you. At my 7 week scan my ovaries were still enormous. I have just had a scan today and my ovaries have a few small cysts and still overly large. My clinic told me it will take a few months for them to get back to normal. I get the odd twinge from them now and then but apart from that no problems.

Re the spotting. I would contact your GP or midwife asap. I had spotting on Friday and again last night. I called my midwife today who would you believe was on leave! the surgery rec. i phone duty midwife at local hospital where i will give birth. On speaking to her she booked me in for a scan straight away just to get to the bottom of the spotting. Everything is fine but they told me to expect another bleed as it looks like i have a bit of blood sitting in my cervix. But baby was fine and very active!

I would contact them for peace of mind and to check everything is ok. Hope this helps.

Thanks Saraid for your advise.
I did manage to contact my mw who really thought I had nothing to worry about. As I have a scan booked for Monday, I shall wait till then unless it gets worse or changes in any way.
Keep your feet up and stay rested my friend.
Best wishes
