Question on behalf of my sister in her 2ww

Post by cathryn0308 »

Hi

My sister had two fresh embies transferred last Tuesday 4/4. They were 5 days old at the point they were transferred.

She is due to test on Good Friday.

She had pulling sensations in her tummy yesterday. This morning, she was standing by the sink, and suddenly felt really sick, and had to lie down.

This is her 4th attempt at ICSI, her last attempt was positive, but resulted in a blighted ovum, when she went for her 7 week scan.

I think we are all looking for positive signs for her this time, as neither my mum or me want anything to go wrong for her.

Do you think the symptoms she is experiencing are good or bad? I know you shouldn't read anything into it, but you can't help looking for signs.

I would really appreciate some advice from anyone.

Thanks Cathryn

I am also in my 2ww - this is my first cycle. I have had AF cramping on and off and tender breasts but that is it. I have been driving myself crazy trying to read into every little ache in my body. What I have learned is that there is really no way of knowing. Everybody is different - and PMS, early pregancy, and progesterone shots all cause the same symptoms (just to add to the frustration :x )

Unforunately there is no way to know for sure and guessing will only make us more crazy. If your sis has had a positive before - maybe she can compare to how she felt then? That is the only suggestion I have.

I know it is hard - but tell your sister to hang in there. Friday is only 4 days away!

Good luck - hope she gets a BFP :)

Hi Lisa

Thanks for your comments. I guess you are right. I am going stir crazy for her, and I am not even the one on the 2ww, so I can't imagine how she is feeling.

I so want this to work for her. She'll have been trying for 5 years now, so its about time it was her turn.

Lets hope you also get a BFP on Friday, then it really will be a 'Good Friday'!

Cheers Cathryn :D

Hi

Can anyone answer a question about bloating?

My sister is due to test on Friday, after having 2 fresh embies transferred.

She is quite bloated and uncomfortable, she has sore boobs still, but is worrying herself about the bloating.

She has tried ringing the clinic and is waiting for them to call back.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks Cathryn

Bloating is quite normal thru all of this. It is caused by the drugs - but can also mean early pregnancy. Tell your sis to relax!! I am sure everything is fine :)

tell her to drink loads of fluids get plenty of rest and if it gets really painfull get her to hospital so they can moniter her
also if it is ohss then that is a very good sign that it could be a bfp for her
as the preg hormone can bring on ohss when it is released

Hi Charlie

Thanks for your reply. My parents are taking my sister to the clinic today, as she is becoming increasingly uncomfortable. She is due to test in 2 days time. She had 5 day old fresh embies transferred. Poor girl, part of her doesn't want to go in case they say that she isn't pregnant, she is terrified. To top it off her husband is up North at the moment so she is on her own - no fun!

I spoke to her this morning, and she is having a bit of difficulty catching her breath. Hopefully she will be over at the hospital in the next hour and then can check her out.

I so hope that this is a sign of a BFP for her. She has been trying for 5 years now, and this is her 4th attempt at ICSI.

Keep your fingers crossed that this is her time.

I'll let you know what the clinic says.

Thanks again for your post.

OHSS

Post by Russian Treasure »

Sounds to me that it could be OHSS. I had that back in 2003 when I had my first transfer. It is a serious condition, so hopefully everything is ok by now. Good luck.
