I know all clinics are different in grading. Mine grades on a 1-5 with 1 being excellent, and others grade on an A, B, C... But there has to be some similarity. I just don't really understand it. I have 8 dividing embies. 2- 2cell, 5- 4cell, 1-6cell (grade 3). All the others are grades 1 and 2. My big question is.... Can they change grade as they divide or are they graded only once? Anyone else's clinic use a grade 1-5 and understand it?
Thanks.
I am not 100% sure about this, but I was under the impression that they can depending on whether fragmentation occurs as they divide. Also I think they assess the number and regularity of the cells, which I assume can also change as they divide further. I am sure there is probably a lot more to it than that.
Out of my 7 embies 6 were graded 1 and 1 was graded 4. By time of my transfer (day 5 transfer), I had 2 grade one blastocysts and the rest of my embies stopped developing completely.
So a few days does make a difference.
I was disappointed I had none to freeze but the clinic knew for sure I got the 2 best of the 7 since they waited until day 5.
