Infertility and STD

Post by jim72 »

Hi my g/f and I are trying for our first baby. I am paranoid, however that I am sterile. I'm 32 and when I was 15 I contracted Gonorrhea twice in 6 months. Both times I was treated successfully with antibiotics. I have read that this STD can lead to infertility, but am not sure how this is manifested. I read on one website that it causes internal scarring of various tubes (cant remember which ones) leading to infertility, but it went onto say that surgery can recifythis problem. So my question is lets say I am infertile due to Gonorrhea is it definitely reversable with surgery or can Gonorrhea destroy sperm resulting in a 0% sperm count? Any help, advice would be fantastic.

Hi Jim

I am not an expert, but yes i hae heard that STD can lead to infertility. But I think it is dangerous when you have an STD that is not treated for a long time?...

I guess the best for you is to go for a sperm analysis. Just have to give a sample and the laboratory will meake the necessary tests. Then you will know where you stand!

Good luck
