expected delivery date

Post by pjpalmer »

Hi,

Im a little confused on my delivery date. I had EC on the 5th April and ET on 7th. I tested a bfp on the 19th April and had my six week scan on the 3 May. On the print out scan it showed I was 5w1d + plus 8 and that my EDD was 2 January. However my consultant told me I was due on the 26th December. Today I went to the GP to inform her and she worked my date out as 2 Jan,but that was working out when my AF should have been in march, so im really confused at how far gone i am. I have booked a 8 week scan today going on what my consultant said but how can the dates be a week out?

I used the pregnancy calculator on her, at it also confirms 26th Dec.

Any clues? and what bdoes 5w1d+8 mean?

Paula - your pregnancy due date needs to be calculated by your egg collection date. That is considered 'date of ovulation' by normal standards. For calculators that ask for first date of last period - subtract 14 days from EC date. I had egg collection on 3/30, and transfer on 4/5. My due date - confirmed by my doctor - is Dec. 21. Therefore - given your dates - I would say Dec 26th sounds reasonable for you. Remember - less than 20% of women actually deliver on their due dates anyway. I have no idea what the 'plus 8' means. That is a new one for me! I can tell you that today I am 7 weeks and 4 days pregnant - so you would be about 6 weeks and 6 days since you are about 5-6 days behind me.

Hope this helps - congrats on your BFP!! :)

Thanks for that, I thought the consultant was right and not the GP. I have my 8 week scan on monday although its a bit early, but it took a lot of arm twisting to get so I shouldn't complain, but this should tell me more.
