2WW Advice???

Post by sarahface »

Hi again

I am due for ET next Tuesday and both DH and myself are feeling quite nervous and fretful. Does anyone have any advice for our 2WW as in doo's and don'ts? i would greatly appreciate this.

Im feeling quite bloated at the moment and to top it off ive got a dratted cold and sore throat, ive been experiencing mild/moderate pains from my ovaries and it looks as though my stimming meds are going to be reduced. At my last scan i was told i have 15 folicles and that it was going to be a little uncomfortable. But i feel so bloated and poorly and need a good focus lol

God Bless

Hi Sarah, good luck to your ET.
I was very bloated too after egg retrieval. There were also pain near the ovaries. The condition would improve within a few days to a week. If the situation gets worse, you must talk to your doc.
As to what one should do and should not do, please go to the General Forum to the Subject Dos & Don'ts. There are helpful information. I wish I had read it before ET in my first IVF/ICSI cycle.

Although there is lots of advice in the dos and don'ts in the general forum I thought you might like to know what adive etc. I was given.

At my first clinic I was told no baths, no swimming, no strenious exercise, etc. but I never reached the 2ww to find out if this was good advice.

At my new clinic I was told to take it easy for a few days, no sex for a week otherwixe do as you would normally do - as they told me if you had conceived naturally you would not have done things differently because you would not have known you could be pregnant.

I had the rest of the day, after ET and the next day off work and then it was the weekend (so I took things easy for 3-4 days), but then I was back to work the rest of the time (mon - fri). I had baths, although not to hot, I did gentle exercise - including ice-skating, I ate the same things I usually do and I have just had my test today which was a BFP.

However, I was alsotold do whatever you feel comfortable with - if you feel taking time off work (is you are able to) will help then do it. At the end of the day I know we all want a BFP and if we get a BFN then we always wonder if it is down to something we did or didn't do. As a friend of mine said to me - what will be will be.

Hope this is of some help - and good luck.

hiya i would give you the same advise i gave to my wife
and that is to do as litle as possible
i moved our bed downstairs to save her climbing stairs
she spent 2 days in bed str8 after et
then she spent another week doing very little
this is a hard prosess and you hav gotta give yourself the best chance and for us that meant doing not very much
if it works and you get pregnant then great was worth it
and if its a neg at least you wont be thinking wot if i did a little less
for the record doin very little worked for us
best of luck to you

Last time I went back to work on day 5 with the intention of taking it fairly easy, but there didn't seem to be any avaoiding the running up and downstairs and dealing with difficult customers shouting in my face. (I manage a drug treatment team). I got a BFN

This time I'm having the whole 2 weeks off. At least I won't be looking back and wishing I'd rested up more.

Hi Sarah,
Poor love, hope those blasted ovaries calm down for you.

Everyone is going to give you different advice, and truly mine to you is to do what you feel is right and what you are going to feel happy with at the end of the day. People who fall pregnant without IVF dont stop living for 2 weeks, but of course they dont have the 24/7 mental anguish which we are blessed with in wanting to monitor and strategise our every movement  you have to do what you think is going to be right for you. Take advice from your doc if your bloating is bad and the risk of OHSS is higher.

Just remember the embryo WONT shake out of you! I know I was suprised that it wasnt this tiny bead that was trying to stick to a wall in the middle of cyber space and would drop out if I ran for the bus!! If the embryo is meant to work IT WILL, so you must do what you think is going to be best for you, and have faith that your body is going to do the work for you if this is the right embryo (and of course it is!!!!)
The very best of luck to you. There is a BFP around the corner .... am sending you baby dust and wishing hard for you that this is the one

Take care and hang in there
