ET tuesday 6th june.advice

Post by langton »

Hi everyone. well im nearly there. 2 more sleeps to go until my ET. I am a little bit worried because i dont no what to expect. i never got this far last time. i could certainly do with some advice of you ladies. do you just get up and go when its done? or do they let you have a little lie down. im worried about all the lumps and bumps on the road back to blackpool. i cant believe there actually going to be inside there on tuesday. my womb is gonna be shell shocked, and say "so thats what you look like, you took your time getting here fellas" i dont think my womb knows what a sperm looks like never mind an embreo.
i cant help but get my hopes up. i know we all say to other people. ill be fine with it if it doesnt work and shrug our shoulders, but we all no were pinning our hopes on this one.i feel like im gonna bust with exitement. i just cant wait any longer, ive been trying to get to this stage since jan, everything kept going wrong. but yippyyyyyyyyyyy its all right this time and i go TUESDAY! I feel like im waiting for father christmas. i know you are all probably thinking, silly girl, getting all her hopes up. but thats just the way i am. well......if it goes all wrong ill deal with it in my own little way. and never give up.

need some does and donts.
good luck eveyone

Good luck to you Haley!!

ET is much easier than EC. You are awake thru the whole thing. The worst part about it is the speculum, but we go thru that everytime we get a pap, so its not bad at all.

Its very exciting and sometimes they will let you watch them go in on the the ultra sound.

Dont worry about the bumpy ride home. They are in there like peas in honey. They wont fall out. You will need to rest for about 3 days (like Zita says in her book).

Let me know if you have other questions. Im sure that you will get great advise from all the girls.

Good luck and sticky baby dust for your embies!! :D

Hi Hayley. I found the ET no problem. I rested for a couple of minutes then walked back to the ward. I didn't get to see them being transferred as they don't use the ultrasound. We got to see our embies quickly. That was nice. Check out this site. I found it helpful. Fingers, toes and eyes crossed for that BFP Paula x http://www.ivfconnections.com/qpostransfer.htm

At my clinic I watched it all happen. It is really weird that you could have a baby who you saw when they were only a few cells - quite wondrous really.

The first time i was really shocked that as soon as it was over it was "Right, get dressed and off you go!". I was really half expecting to be in overnight!

I got the DP to bring the car round and lay down all evening when i got back. I tried to stay as still as i could for the first 3 days, but that is difficult when you feel completely fine. Try to have plenty of healthy snacks, stuff to read, DVDs etc to keep you occupied because the urge to just carry on as normal is surprisingly strong because you are unlikely to feel the slightest bit ill or fragile.

Loads of luck - I will be testing the day yours go in - so lets hope its just a lucky day!

Hayley

Good Luck for your ET.

I put all the stuff that I thought that I would need near by bed before hand. Magazines, books, videos, water, etc etc. My dh looked after me for 3 days and I really just got up to go to the loo. I felt a little sore but that was from EC. I lazed around and watched videos and read magz.

They made me lie down for 20 mins after transfer and then after I had been to the loo I was free to go home. I made dh drive me very carefully home and then holed up in bed.

Wishing you loads & loads of luck. It is natural to be excited.
Take good care.

I didn't get to see anything during my ET. It felt like a PAP smear, nothing painful.

They wheeled me back to the recovery room, where I laid down for 1 hour. Then went home and was on bedrest except for bathroom for 48 hrs. Told me not to lift anything or do any activity that would increase my heartrate or temperature until the test date. I did go back to work after several days.

Good luck!
