3 day vs. 5 day

Hello ladies
I am looking for some information or just opinions

its about 3 day vs 5 day transfer. I have read tons of information about different success rates and what is better. My doc only does 3 day and I did have one good 8 cell but I just worry do 3day transfers work? Whenever I see a BFP I go back and see how many embies and what day they trans them. I see a lot have had Blast transfers (5 day) does that mean the 3 day is a waste..Sorry this 2ww is making me crazy so I thought I would ask you ladies...

I dont know about success rate for 3days Et VS 5days ET, but at my clinic they do 3 days transfers. It has not work for me, but one of my friend gave birth to twins a couple of months ago, so it did work for her!!

My clinic usually does 5 day transfer. the reason behind is to "select" the strongest embryos. Say, if you have 12, statistically maybe only 8 will survived to implant and develop. So, they wait and see which might stop between day 3 and 5.
If there are no enough embies, my clinic does 3dt.
Well, I had from 3 fertilized only 2 left at day 3. So, we did 3dt.
And they both implanted. today we saw 2 sacs!
I am sure your little bean will be fine!!

hows the madness going? im really wound up today

i have looked into this a lot the information i found out is that most clinics (including mine) will tell you that they do day 3 transfers because some embies dont progress in the peetree dish but would do well in the womb this is false if an embie is going to make it it will make it (barring human error) it really doesnt make any difference in how well the embie does at all on what day they are transfered, but it does make a huge difference to the clinic if they coinsistently have nothing to transfere,im preety sure if they stopped judging clinics on transferes most would do day 5

i also have a friend who had day 3 transfers on some bad grade eggs she got twins so after you have them placed back home its all up to them... ive also recently found out that only a few of our eggs where ever meant to be babies so if you dont implant the first time it could just be they didnt harvest the right eggs that time this time can be really different...

thank you ladies..its just one of those 2ww days where I am loosing. it.. I really wound today and its only Monday and I cant test till Sunday..uggg this is crazy..
ok so I will just be calm (sounds like I have said that before) but I will be calm and just know that my little strong fighter embie is all snuggled..

Vesi I read your other post congrats so much on the 2 babies..

Aunty I know about being wound the meds can do that to you.. I think we should all take up yoga or meditation.. I can just see all of us trying to meditate..

i will feel better after my scan tomorrow....at least i think i will...LOL

i truly hope jackie that you dont feel really calm for ooo at least another 9 months......

vessi thats right about having a clearer picture of the embie at day 5 my clinic has said if i get enough we can have a day 5 i liked this as before they said they wouldnt let me ever do a day 5 cos of my age and crusty ovarys, im having assisted hatching too but i just read something on the www(wacky weird web)about that can cause problems now im wishing i didnt read it...

.... i would settle for one healthy day 3

Yes I say in unision we all start to meditate.. and say "mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" for at least 10mins.. I am at work so they may think I am a little weird but beacuase I am always reading these and cheeriing or laughing they probably think I am werid anyway right....I'll just blame it on the hormones again...

Aunty that would be great if you could get to 5 days.. I heard like Vesi did that way they could pick better ones.. I only had the one so we did not have much choice.. But on my new positive kick I am sure it was the RIGHT ONE..

Im doing that positive thinking thing but in reality i doubt very much we will get a choice, only got 2 out of 7 last time that made it to day 3 and they were not good ones either, but at the stage im at i can pretend i may have two blasts and some to freeze

i think you are doing great i didnt realise you had been waiting for so long to take your test... no wonder your going nuts...i only have to wait 11 days and that was a long long time....

hey guys I dont know if this is any added info that would help, my er went with a 5 day transfer for mr this time because i had gotten pregnant the first time and they thought one of the contribuying factors had something to do with chromosomal division and by day 5 i guess he said they could see witch eggs where stong enough to hatch and grab on....i had a 3 day the first time but im older too he may have been trying to make me feel better...

There is no clear answer as to whether day 3 or day 5 is better. Some physicians strongly believe one or the other. That's what they do, so that's what they know. Changing the practice is not as trivial as it sounds.

Personally, I prefer day 5 transfer, because a better selection can be made among more developed embryos. But I don't claim it's the only good answer.

i was hoping youd have some insite for us... i have a couple of questions though...what do you mean that changing from doing 3 day to 5 day is tough surley they just hold on to the embies a little longer?? my DR and clinic do both 3 and 5 day depending on how many eggs you have

i think if i lived in UK where you can only have two transfered i would insist on 5 day or make sure i had a clinic that did 5 day...im lucky that if i had more i can at least have more transfered giving a better shot of getting the good one

my doc does not do 5day.. I am sure they are looking at their transfer #'s and would rather show actual transfers (which 3day would proably be better)
I only had one little embie so I am sure even if they did day 5 trans they would have not allowed me..

My one little embie is good though and strong.. 8 cell at day 3 so I could not ask for better.. now it just has to hang on and be stuck....
