National Infertility Day

Post by beckym »

Hi

I used to use this board a lot when I was going through my two ivf cycles and met some people who will be life long friends through it. Unfortunately IVF didn't work out for us but we have had a happy outcome through another route, as we have adopted a wonderful little girl from China. I am the parliamentary lobbyist on the committee for UK's biggest intercountry adoption charity and we want to put together a press release to coincide with National Infertility Day on Saturday re the fact that there is generally no counselling given in private IVF clinics in the UK re other options to IVF - eg adoption, whether it be domsetic or intercountry. I just wanted to gauge people's experiences of this. My main question is, do the NHS clinics offer any sort of counselling before you undertake IVF treatment re alternative options? Anybody had any experience of this?

many thanks in advance for your responses. And to all those who still remember me, a very warm hello.

Nikki

do you mind me asking if they actually mentioned adoption in the counselling or was it more specific to the treatment itself - ie how the treatment might affect you and chances of success etc? you can reply privately if you want.
