First Time IVF

Post by Shapooh »

I have decided to do IVF and have asked my doctor lots of questions, and I am starting to feel like a pest. I haven't started anything yet, my first appointment is 06/15. My question is what part of your cycle do you begin this process? I keep reading how important timing is and the office just gave me the appointment and I feel like it didn't matter to them. Does it matter? or am I being psycho about this whole thing? Sorry if I sound crazy.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!

hello and welcome.... I would post this to the general thread.. You will find these ladies are very helpful..

To tell you I also felt like the doc did not care where I was in my cycle.. The response I got was "we are setting your cycle" so I would try not to worry
best of luck

To make a long story short, I started the ivf process on day 2 of my cycle. I went in for bloodwork 2 days after start of af and then started bcp that next Sunday, took them for around 5 weeks straight and then started down regging. Around 2 weeks after down regging i started stims and around 2 weeks later was my retrieval and then transfer!! Depending on the person you may need to get more blood work done and/or scans to make sure your uterus is ready BEFORE you start down regging (while you're taking bcp). Hope this helps!

Thanks so much for the information, I do feel better. I know the doctors office does this kind of stuff everyday, but its scary when all your hopes and dreams lay in the hands of these people and they make it seem like I'm making an appointment for pap smear. Thanks again, everyone here is so nice. I wish everyone the best.

Alicia,
I am also doing my first IVF cycle in July. When I first started calling the clinic, they seemed like I was just another pest to them, but that didn't stop me from calling them. I probably called 5 times before we went to our coordinating appointment a couple of weeks ago (my sister and I, she is donating her eggs to us). I was so afraid that something was going to slip threw the cracks. When we got to the appointment with the coordinator, she had calendars for my sister, me, my husband and was just in shock at how down she had our case. I had to go back monday for a water ultrasound, and the doctor, the coordinator, and a nurse all stopped me in the hall to see how I was and if I needed anything. They've been awsome, but when we first started, I really thought I was being dismissed. I hope that your experience gets better and that you feel better about it.

Thanks so much for your story, it really does help knowing others have the same feelings. This is such an emotional process and sometimes I have to step back and make sure I'm not over reacting. I think that is so great that your sister is helping you. I will keep you in my prayers and hopefully we both have a successful outcome. Looking forward to hearing your wonderful news.
