IVF 1st time after hysteroscopy and high FSH level

Post by imelda »

Hi everyone... :D

My name Imelda, 33 yo. From Indonesia. My IVF program will be at Singapore.

I got hysteroscopy to remove 12 mm polyp on June 1st. My doctor said that i could start the program as soon my period comes, which 16 June. I think it is too early, i am thinking to start on my period on July. Anybody has an experience like this? Don't you think that i need a rest after operation?

My doctor also said that i have a very high FSH level (8.66). I don't ask a lot to him about the relation between high FSH level with IVF. I am totally blind, especially we communicate with English that I am not very fluently :( . Anybody can help me to explain?

Thanks a lot. God Bless U all

My doctor says that FSH is an indicator of what quality eggs you will have. I just completed my first transfer. My FSH was like 10 and I produced 4 eggs which fertilized into 3 good embryos. So I truly hope you will have no problelms. Best of luck.

FSH of 8 to 9 is no big problem by itself. I've seen much worse. And I've seen pregnancies with FSH above 15, although that's pretty rare.

Warning: Some clinics will try to steer patients with moderately high FSH toward donor cycles, so that the clinic's non-donor statistics are kept as high as possible. You might want a second opinion.

Imelda,

You must start things when YOU feel right. This IVF lprocess is such a rollercoaster and you have to be ready in your head.

As for FSH - I was told that anything over 10 was the start of concerns and that it was also an indication of egg reserve. I was intially tested at 10.3 and was told this was high. In 3 IVF's I've only ever had a maximum of 3 eggs, with little more follicles, and even then that only happened the once. However, in all goes, fertilisation took place, so my problem seems to be a lack of eggs, not the quality.

FSH can vary from month to month too. I was tested again in February, 4 years after the first test and it was 9.3! (I think the higher result is what they work on though...)

HEY - it only needs ONE egg and ONE sperm!

Take care and good luck!

I just want to let you know that a month before my first IVF I too had a hysteroscopy and D&C (to remove a polyp that ended up being just a build up of tissue) AND I had a FSH level of 10 (which my RE told me was in the normal range). The first cycle I produced 6 follies, 4 mature and only 1 fertilized, BFN. Second cycle, ONE month later, produced 18 follies, 14 mature, 11 fertilized, BFP!! After my hysteroscopy my gyno told me to wait a few mos before doing IVF because my uterus needed time to heal. I didn't wait and now am thinking my maybe I would have gotten a BFP if I had. Do whatever YOU feel is right though! Everything will work out, I'm sure! :)
