IUI UPDATE TOO MANY FOLLIES??

Post by jackiey »

Hi everyone

Just been for day 8 scan and things aren't looking too good, i've got 2 follies that are 15mm (i think) and 2 that are really small. They have told me i've got to carry on with injections and to go back monday for another scan and if the two small ones have grown they will have to abandon the cycle - their exact words "don't build your hopes up" I feel sick and have already started crying, it's only my first time but i thought i would get a bit futher than this. Trying not to cry too much and tonight i'm gonna get a bottle of wine and drown my sorrows, i know all is not lost till monday but i don't think there is much chance of the other two follies not growing is there,if anyone knows anything can they let me know.

Hope everyone else is doing ok
Jackie

Hi Jackiey,

I've just been for my 12 day scan this morning, I've got a couple of big follicles and lots of small. The nurse told me not to get my hopes up as it looks like the small ones are not responding. The last time I ahd ohss so they've been really cautions and put me on a low dose, but it looks like it was too low and now probably abandon. I'll find out better on Monday also, I just feel so disappointed as well, all the emotional energy you have to put in then this. You never know though our bodies might decide to respond differently over the next couple of days.
Anyway thought i'd let you know that I was in the same boat as you, Frustrated and fed up.

Deb T xx

Hi Diane and Deb

Have not cried for a couple of hours now so that cant be bad can it!

Dianne, i'm taking Merional 75IU at the minute, they have told me that i have got to keep injecting till i go for scan on monday, about the insemination i only know from reading the notes that approx day 10 or 11 if the follies are ok then you have to have the hcg injection and then 36 hours later you go for the insemination. How are you feeling, do you feel any different or is it too soon to tell yet?? Good luck and keep me posted.
Diane when i couldn't register the other day i tried emailing you for someone to talk to whilst i was starting the treatment, i don't know what i did wrong but it came back not sent. I hope you don't mind but i just needed a chat.
Deb we need to swap follies!!! Let's hope that mine get lazy and your's get a move on, good luck for monday i'll be thinking of you and hopefully we'll have some good news!! Speak to you on monday if not before.

Jackie,

I really can't understand some hospitals, i know the treatment varies from place to place, but some hospitals are just taking the mick.
When you go on monday IF the follies have grown, ask for them to drained, rather than you having to abandon treatment. My first IUI i had 5 follies, and doc said if they all grew they would drain 2 of them. My last scan, i had 4 follies and they were all about 22mm or so, so the doc decided not to drain one of them, and went ahead with the IUI with the possibilities of quads.
There is always alternatives to abondoning treatment - but some hospitals dont tell you that.

Heather
xxx
Got pregnant with IUI triplets in March 04. One triplet stopped growing at 9 weeks. Gave birth to twin boys in Sep 04, Ciaran sadly lost his fight. Brennan's thriving.Looking to give Brennan a sibling soon.

Hi Heather, didn't realise they could do that, thanks for that info,if i pluck up the courage i will ask them about it, the trouble is cos we're nhs i am frightened to say anything in case i upset the nurses and they start being funny with me, i know that probably sounds sad, fingers crossed the follies will have stopped growing but on monday if they haven't i might say something to the nurses if i feel brave enough. The thing with our hospital is they only really like one follie, god know how you're only supposed to grow one!!!

Kelly
What a wimp I am i only drunk one glass of wine and fell asleep!!

Jackie
