ICSI- appointments and scans etc

Post by beckers »

Hi, I am waiting for AF to start (anyday now) so I can start my first ISCI cycle. I have a six year old daughter,so what with the 6 weeks school holidays I prabally should have waited till next month so that most of my appointments would have been when she is at school, but I just didnt feel I wanted to wait any longer.

I already know that I have an appointment on the 8th August to discuss my treatment plan. And that I will be starting on the drugs 21 days after AF. But can anyone tell me what other visits I will have to make to the clinic during the ICSI and at what point in my cycle. I know no one can tell me exactly as everyones cycle is probally a bit different, Id just like a rough idea so I will know approx how many times I will need someone to look after my daughter before she goes back to school in september.

Thanks

I kept a journal during my process so I can tell you excactly what I did.

* 2 hour class to learn how to give myself shots
* After AF, one apt for baseline tests (scan & blood work)
* 3 apts for scans & blood work while taking drugs - this may be one or two more if you are on the meds longer than me...my body took to them quick and I only had to take them for 8 days (I had a 15 day supply).
* Egg retreival apt - needed the day off
* Egg transfer apt - needed the day off
* Apt 5 days after transfer for blood work
* Apt 11 days later (16 days after transfer) for blood work to see if I was pregnant
* 2 weeks after I found out I was pregnant I had my first scan & blood work
* 1 week after that I had my 2nd scan & blood work.
* Then the IVF clinic discharged me and I was off to my regular doctor for regular check ups.

My clinic allows all the scans & blood work to be done very early in the morning, so I got to do them all before I went to work and they were quick. Most of the clinics I know of around here do it that way, so that really helped.

Hope that's helpful!
