symptoms, IUI, laparoscopy

I had my first 2 IUI's 5 days ago (two days in a row). I am now on my 2ww and feeling very anxious. I do not feel any symptoms. Does anyone know when people start to feel symptoms if they are pregnant? I am feeling so overwhelmed because I don't think that this time it worked but I don't know if I am just being unreasonable. I go in for blood tests to check my HCG levels in a week. I am dying from the anticipation of it all. I am sure that you all know what I mean.
If this is my ist IUI but 2nd round of Clomid (produced 5 follicles each time), how long should I continue trying through IUI and Clomid before I have a laparoscopy done. I have tried to stay away from it but now know that I may have to. I had an hysterosalpingogram a year ago and they found that I have a blocked right tube (same side as an ectopic prgenancy that happened 6 months before that). My left tube had free fill and spill. Does that mean that it is probably clear because my dr. told me that this does not necessarily mean that it is completely unblocked.
Is there any benfits of having a laparoscopy performed? They already told me that I may not be able to take Clomid next month(if need be) because they are fearful of hyperstinmulation becuase I am producing so many follicles at a 50mg dosage.

Hope all went well. I was just told that a laparoscopy would be better than doing IUI. It would be good to know if your IUI worked without a laparoscopy.

Hi Jane!
I did end up having a laparoscopy (in October) in which they found adhesions. They cleared all of it up and have said that both of my tubes are open but sluggish. I have continued with IUI's since and have had no success. I will be going for an IVF consultation on March 30. I hope that everything is going well with you. If you have any other questions, let me know.

I have the laparoscopy booked for the end of March. I am quite sceptical about IUI as I have the tubal problems. The doctors want to try an IUI with Clomid before an IVF. I'll wait for the results of the laparoscopy but my feeling is that if there is any tubal damage we would be better to go straight to IVF. Based on your experience would you agree or do you think it is worth trying IUIs first?
Another question! How long did it take to recover from the laparoscopy?

Hi Jane!
I thought the same thing as you. I kept wondering why they would do the IUI's if my problem is my tubes. My doctor told me that 1. they like to try less invasive procedures before going on to more invasive ones. 2. my left tube was supposedly in pretty good shape 3. they believed that after the laparoscopy that things looked good.
i definately recommend getting the laparoscopy because if there are issues, they can try to correct them plus, they can see exactly what is going on inside yuo (if anything) and take note so that if you have to go on to IVF they will not have to wonder what is going on because it is already documented.
As far as the laparoscopy goes, I will be honest, I was absolutely terrified of being put under anesthesia, what they would find, etc. In reality, it really was not that bad. I was definately sore but not really in pain. They give you pain meds and recommend you take them every 8 hours or more, if needed. I was slightly uncomfortable for about 3 days and then I was fine. My doctor told me to saty out of work for 5 days so I did and when I went back I was completely back to normal.

Thanks for the good wishes. I actually had my laparoscopy yesterday and the result was amazing When I woke up they told me that they had managed to unblock both my tubes and everything else looks fine. The doctor that I saw beforehand was not very optimistic about it working (perhaps she was being realistic and didn't want to get my hopes up) so I didn't even consider that this result could be possible. I finally feel that we have a chance and we now have the chance with an IUI. I'm so excited
I don't feel too bad today, bit tired and a bit sore but no pain. I was also worried about having the laparoscopy because when they removed my cyst in 2005 it was a horrible experience but I now believe them when they said that I will be fine by Monday.
I asked the doctor how long we would have to wait for BD and she said a week but I'm so tempted to do it before then so that we don't miss this cycle. After my hysteroscopy they said to go home and BD that night. What did they tell you?

Good luck to you. That is great news and the fact that you are so positive will help too. With m, they didn't really tell me when to BD. But I got my period right after my laparosopy so we started the IUI that very month.
I wish you all of the luck in the world.
My consultation went well. I am starting IVF this month and am very excited. However, they did find that my ovaries are polycystic so, this may be why the IUI's did not work. They said that this is something that they can correct and it's not a big deal.

Dear Cori,
Good luck with the IVF. I'm not sure what polycystic ovaries are but at least you are getting some answers too and they can correct things. My personal opinion is that things are easier to deal with when you know what the problem is, unexplained fertility must be so much harder to get your head around. When they found the problem with my tubes in November I was relieved that we knew what we were dealing with, until then I was just getting frustrated by my gynaecologist saying 'these things take time'!
So GOOD LUCK I will be wishing for you too. Fingers crossed for BFPs soon for both of us
