I am on my 2nd IVF and I just had the retrieval on Friday. My RE called yesterday and said that only one egg fertilized. She said the others were too immature. So, God willing tomorrow I will go in for the ET. I am also concerned because it is a 3 day transfer but I guess they don't want to risk waiting for 5 days. I don't want to lose my PMA since everyone keeps saying it only takes one! Which I understand but .... Last IVF I had 2 ET and it was still a BFN!! Any feedback would be much appreciated!!
A huge factor, often ignored, is that your endometrium is either receptive or else it is not. They cannot know its status, short of a biopsy that they will not do in a transfer cycle. If the endometrium is not receptive, they could transfer a hundred embryos and nothing would happen. What I'm saying is, the chance of failure is not purely dependent on the embryos, therefore your chances with a single transfer are not as diminished as it might seem. This is part of the reasoning behind the international push for single embryo transfer. An even bigger reason is the increased rate of birth defects with multiples. So the news is not as bad as you might think.
Personally, I'd recommend single transfer anyway, even if you had 30.
Thank you Ghost for your reply. I can't complain since Iactually got what I prayed for since I didn't really want to freeze more embies due to religion/ethics. If this is a BFN, we will try next with my frozen embies and see how that goes.....
