This HAS to work!!!!

Post by Corinna »

Sorry for the dramatic title, but I'm really psyched up at the moment.

I've just been for another scan which shows that everything is okay. I've ovulated this month and my lining is nice & thick. I'm all go for my FET next month!! :D

Anyway, as you probably know, my DH is azoospermic. The past few samples he's given have contained no sperm whatsoever, even though he managed to produce just enough to fertilise 7 eggs on our last fresh ICSI cycle (BFN, but we've got 3 in the freezer)

Anyway, cos of the severe lack of tiddlers, my consultant took some blood from DH to test his FSH, oestrodiel (spelling) and testosterone. His FSH is high (16.8 or therabouts) and his oestrodiel & testosterone is normal. I thought that this was good news, but alas no.. :(

This means that there is nothing they can give my DH (drugs wise) to improve his count and they will have to do surgical sperm retrieval on our next fresh cycle. We've been given a "low" chance of retrieving any swimmers tho. Our consultant has suggested that we go for councelling cos its looking very likely that we'll need donor sperm. Devastated beyond belief...

Well!!! I have 3 frosties which we're going to transfer at this has GOT to work!!

Listen to me embies! You HAVE to stick around. You have no choice. Its either that or the naughty chair and no pocket money for a week!!

This is probably THE last chance that DH has got of having his own biological child and I can't even consider the possibility that this will fail.

My consultant has already agreed to give me progesterone injections after embryo replacement instead of the normal pessaries so I'm hoping that this will make a difference. Although my blood flow is good, he's agreed that I can take baby asprin. What else do I do?!?!

If there is anyone out there that has had a BFP from a frostie, what did you do differently.

I'm sorry to sound so desperate, but this HAS to work for us.

Hi Corinna,'

You're off to a good start!! I got a BFP with a FET and am now 23 weeks pregnant! What I did differently is think positive, positive, positive and not put too much stress on myself. Also, in the time leading up to the actual procedure I was not allowing life's daily things and people to aggravate me. I tried really hard to not get stressed out about anything. The night before my husband and I went out for a nice meal and took it easy.

Try to really pamper yourself for the days afterward while you are waiting to hear the wonderful POSITIVE news!!!

Take care and the best of luck to you,
jkos

Corinna,

I have heard of loads of people that get pregnant with 'snow babies' that didn't with fresh cycles. I think it is because the body has not been manipulated before and it's a more natural environment.

On my next one I will be doing FET without any medication and the clinic think I will have a good chance (assuming they survive thaw) as I have nothing wrong with me. My DH had vasectomy and had to get his sperm surgically retrieved.

I really do think you have an excellent chance on this succeeding. Keep the faith girl!!!

The progesterone injections are reputed to be the best. Also the cheapest. Also the most painful.

FET cycles work more often than many would expect. Much better than 10 years ago.
