Methatrexate shots

Post by mmy »

I found out 6 weeks ago that I was pregnant. My doctor concluded it was either a chemical or ectopic pregnancy. My hormones were not rising as they should & an ultrasound showed nothing. I've received 2 shots of methatrexate about 10 days apart so it would terminate. My levels have finally started to drop. Does anyone know how long it takes them to reach zero and get a period? Also, how long do I need to wait before starting again.

Thanks for your help.

Wow,

I thought for sure I was the only person to get an ectopic pregnancy from IVF/ICSI. I mean what are the chances? I was told after my 2ww that I was pregnant, but there was some concern, my hcg was only 24. Two days later it was only 26 so they told me it was a chemical pregnancy and I would just miscarry when my period would start. My bleeding was also light and when I went in 2 weeks later I told my dr that I was concerned because all those progesterone shots should have built up my lining. They tested my hcg and sent me home. That night they called back and said my hcg was 826. I was shocked and confused. He told me to come in the next day and all that night I had severe cramps on my right side. The next day they sent me to the ER and my hcg had gone down and they couldn't see a thing on my ultrasound. So they did the first of two methotrexate shots that made me sooo sick. I couldn't function for about 2 weeks and finally had to go in for an IV.

Finally, my hcg went down enough for them to feel as the methothraxate was working. It was an awful experience and I still feel bitter that I would have such horrible luck as to get pregnant yet have it attach where it did. Anyway, my dr. seemed fine with the amount of blood and I had a normal period the next month. We were told we could start on birth control and then do another cycle right away, but we don't have the money and it has taken us awhile to get over the experience. I still think about my baby all the time and I'm so sorry you had to go through that experience. Hope you have better luck in the future.

Just heard five or six shots right outside my house about ten minutes ago. Several police cars, marked and unmarked, are currently patrolling 11th, Lamont, and Sherman.

Eek.
