Low responder-Questions

Post by MidwifeMom »

Help! I am kind of bummed! I had my sonogram today and had three 15 mm eggs and one 12 mm. I was hoping for a lot more and was planning on freezing. My Estrogen is 276 (day 7 of stimulation). These seem like crap numbers to me, but I am not sure. Does anyone have any insight on this? They are talking HCG on Thursday (in two days) perhaps. I also have an endometrioma on my left and wonder if this could be the cause..... Any insight??

Thanks,
Michele

Hi Michele,
I had the same thing.... I had 5 growing the first sono, four for a week, and then three the day before collection. Once they were collected there was only one egg that did not fertilize over night so I didn't even make it to transfer.... Bad news bears.

The good news is that they said they have had one egg at retrieval and one baby from it. It's quality not quanity.

Good luck to you! When is your collection?

I'm trying again in December.

PS how old are you. That might be a factor too. I'm 40.

Hi Michele

I just wanted to share my story, I too was devastated at my response, I had 3 follicles at collection, 1@22mm, 1@15mm and 1@11mm. This resulted in 2 eggs and I now have 2 embryos on board. My embryos aren't great quality but I am further then I ever imagined with 3 follicles on maximum stimms. I have high FSH and I know it's not the best situation to be in but you never know, they might just implant, don't give up hope.

Good Luck
Me & DH 35
FSH ranges (6-15)
2x IUI BFN
IVF1 - May06 LP cancelled due to poor resonse
IVF2 - Oct06 SP - 2eggs- 2 embryos on board!

Thanks for the kind words. I am 37 y.o. I will find out tomorrow if I will continue or not. If so, I think I will get HCG on Thursday and then go in Saturday (maybe). Since my estrogen fell today, I have to see if they will move forward or cancel. if they cancel, this is my only try so I am sh** out of luck! Oh well, if its meant to be, it will be I guess. I'm trying to be postiive but I am in tears because I feel like I have wasted all this time and money for nothing. Tomorrow will tell.......

Hi girls,
Michelle, i know how you feel. I responded poorly on my first IVF. 5 follicles, 3 mature eggs, 2 fertilized but they were poor quality and never made it to transfer. They had upped my drugs to the max dose on day 6. My E2 topped out at 484. I also had an endometrioma and not to scare you, but after my cycle, my OBGYN told me it should be removed because it would not go away on its own. I had surgery, and he ended up removing my ENTIRE ovary because of uncontrolled bleeding after removing the endometrioma. I later read, many women lose their ovaries unneccessarily during this procedure. I just want you to have this knowledge in case they recommend the same for you. I am now trying another IVF with my remaining ovary. They put me on the microflare protocol for poor responders.

Good luck to you...
Karen
