Hello to you all,

My name is Lorraine, I only found this site on Friday - quite by accident so I agree with Julie M that the site needs a bit of positive advertising - as you suggested Julie I will ask to "Post" the web address at my clinic.

Thank you to Fi for the welcome - let's hope it's 3rd time lucky for both of us!.

David (DH) and I have have been ttc for 7 years - had clomid x6 & IVF x2 all -ve and are now on our 3rd cycle - Egg collection is Tuesday. Not sure if it will be IVF or ICSI - depends upon count/motility on the day. DH has antibodies/reduced motility, I have PCOS. We also plan to have assisted hatch this time.

Is anyone else having egg collection/embryo transfer this week??? It would be so great to talk to you. Whilst I hope I even get that far - I DREAD the 2 week wait. HELP!

Special thoughts to all of you on your 2ww - everything crossed for Lou on Tues/Wed & Michelle on Friday.

LOL
Lorraine Hook (I think there are 2 Lorraine's!)

[Edited by Lorraine on 23-Jun-03 11:23]

Hi Lorraine - I'm just a day behind you - having EC on Wednesday so I'd be very glad to be your buddy. Our story briefly - started ttc on 5th November 1999 (at about 8 o'clock but presumably that's too much information!!!!)

Anyway, saw the doc for the first time January 2002. Problem diagnosed as DH having poor morphology & motility so ICSI recommended. First cycle abandoned as poor response by me to the drugs. Second cycle failed in March.

Now on 3rd cycle - have 9 follicles and hoping some contain eggs!!

I'm not worried by this week's activities, it's the 2ww that I dread when you just can't think of anything else, day & night. I'm sure it's the same for all of us - not to mention the cyclogest pessaries - YUK!!!

I'll be back at work on thursday after ec on wednesday so I'll check on the site to see how you got on.

I'll be thinking of you - lots of love & good luck ! Jo. XX

Hi Jo,
It is sooooo good to have a cycle buddy!!!
This is really weird - I have never spoken to another soul who has actually had ivf treatment. (it's always friends of friends, my cousin etc - somebody always knows somebody!!!!) In all that 7 years ttc I never realised how much I really wanted to - then I find this site and suddenly it is all I want!!! (I'm not as bonkers as that sounds - honest!!)
Good luck to you and your DH on wednesday - here's hoping for some prime grade A eggs!!
I had a very bad experience during my first EC - it would be v v v bad form to talk details when we should be thinking calm, happy thoughts - but needless to say I do get just a tad (!) nervous. However the 2nd EC experience was totally different (it helps when you know your anaesthetist!) so I will just focus on that one! Calm, happy thoughts!!
I had my pregnyl injection last night, I appear to have had a local rection as my thigh is red and swollen - but it can fall off for all I care - so long as it is absorbed first!! I guess you must take yours tonight - let's hope it gets to work on 9 eggs!
We had 5 follicles of a decent size and a few borderline on Friday - so I hope they did some serious growing over the weekend!!
Will be good to have someone to do the 2ww with.
You will be in my thoughts.
Special wishes to you.
Lorraine. xxx

Hi Lorraine and Jo
I just wanted to wish you both loads and loads of luck for e/c this week.
For me that was the easy bit - I'm on day 11 of the 2ww and I can't tell you how slowly time is going....terrible to wish away time but I can hardly wait till Friday!
Lots of love and luck...hopefully this will be our lucky go.
Michelle x
Hi Lorraine
Yep you are right, there are two of us!

I am starting my first ICSI cycle in August. I have two children from my first marriage, DH no2 and I have been TTC for about 19 months but due to my age (38) we have been pushed along for ICSI quite quickly. Nothing obviously wrong has been found with me 9apart from being an old girl), DH has slightly abnormal sperm test results but nothing that the clinic are too worried about so we are hoping for the best!

Good luck to you with your treatment, and to you too Jo, will look out for you both on the board!

LOL
Lorraine G
Many Thanks to you for all your kind words.

Jo - I wish you the all very best for wednesday - again! I must have been on this site 10 times today - vvvvvv nervous for tomorrow!

Michelle - keep up the good work - Friday is almost here - I have everything crossed for you. (that should make EC more interesting!!)

Lorraine - thanks for your message - isn't it terrible how we all are just wishing our lives away....I want tomorrow over....Jo needs wednesday over...we all want our 2ww over... and you Michelle need August here NOW!

I am so nervous about EC - terrified there will be none - please don't let that happen. Think I feel sick.

Thinking of all you girls out there!
Lorraine. xxx

HI Guys - can I join you. I think I'll be doing ec this friday. About 12 follies so far, but only a couple decent size, Another scan tomorrw will tell me exactly when ec is. REALLY hope its Friday.
Dh v low sperm. Hes going in on Thursday for sperm retrieval (TESE) - so just PRAYING that by the weekend we may have an egg and a sperm to play with!

Its my first time - so no idea what to expect from ec- I assume IN THEORY its ok? Correct?!

Good luck all!!.
Hi girls, can I join in?

Lorraine, I just this reply to your message but I'll add it here to to join you all.

We actually had EC today (wed) they left me for another day to see if some smaller follies would catch up. They managed to get 3 which was better than the two expected! However, they found that I have hyrosalpinx (just been looking into it on the web) and apparently it reduces my chances of pregnacy even further. If all 3 eggs become embryos they want to implant all 3 for higher chance!! Apparently if I'm not sucessful this time I'll have to have my tubes clipped before I can have another go!!! So a bit down (wish they had seen this on the first go as I'm a bit concerned this maybe a wasted go!!).

DH, bless him, couldn't "perform" so after 5 minutes he came out of the room and I snuck in to "give him a hand"!! Not much stimulation for the guys in that little room, especially at 7.45 in the morning!!!

Anyway, how did yours go? Hope you got lots of eggs? Was it IVF or ICSI in the end? I'll have ET on Friday afternoon, so fingers crossed for those 3 and for yours.

Jo - we are on the same day, hope it all went well - let us know your news and we can boost each other along.

Love Sharon x
