I was wondering if there are any real restrictions on long car trips. I am going to a family reunion for the week of Thanksgiving and I will be about 8+ weeks along. The trip is about 11 hours of driving time. I am taking Lovenox for blood clotting issues, but other than that, I am healthy. Should I cancel the trip, or go? I will have already been dismissed from my fertilly clinic and I will not have been to my first prenatal yet.
I'm not sure if there are any hard and fast rules. I think I was told the first time I was pregnant to avoid very long journeys at the start... and if I had to go anywhere - just makes sure that plenty of breaks were taken...
If you are that unsure - just give your clinic or doctor a quick call.

Thanks for the responses. I have had two other full-term pregnancies, but I have never had to travel during the pregnancies. I am hoping to ask my RE tomorrow since I have an appointment. I just wanted to hear what other pregos have been told. I really want to go to the reunion because my grandmother makes the best peanut butter pie just for me!
I traveled 3000 miles in my 11th week. I had to purchase compression stockings (support hose) to avoid blood clots, and make sure we stopped every hour for a 2 minute walk. That was no problem since I had to go to the ladies room about every hour anyway.

Does anyone have any information about long coach trips. I am going on a romantic trip to Paris next week and as I didn't want to risk flying we are going by coach. I mentioned it to my midwife and she didn't give me any restrictions. Now I am wondering what I should do. I guess at least on a coach I can stand up and move around every so often.
